3.29.20 CSGO Slate

This Draftkings slate features 4 games and an abundance of mistakes in terms of rosters and salaries. Before we get into who is playing, we must note that Draftkings inputted the incorrect roster for FPX and have since put in the correct players. Therefore all of the FPX players with the O icon are not on that team and not playing on this slate. In Addition to this, due to visa issues, Smooya (Team Chaos) is not available for his team and will also not be playing. There are a number of puzzling pricing decisions by Draftkings for this slate and we will deal with those within each matchup, so let’s get into it.

Draftkings’ scoring follows the chart shown below, with a focus on K/D and clutch plays. Rosters are set with a Captain position who receives 1.5x his points at 1.5x his salary, but beyond that it is positionless. This is important to understand because CS teams follow a composition of different roles such as IGL (In game leader), entry fragger, support, etc. With Draftkings making no distinction between players, it is left to you to decide which roles are most important within this scoring system and to take advantage of that. For several teams for example, their IGL is not often going to score highly as they may be less skilled at the game but are valuable in ways that Draftkings doesn’t record. With that in mind, I will jump into a quick look at the roles of key players, their key stats, and how their perceived performance should fair in accordance with their salary.

Our top plays are designed to show the most playable options on each team, factoring in performance and price. The top 2 plays on each team will be in our player pool and the third tier top plays are people we will sprinkle in a bit along with the core group. All of the statistics shown are for the last 3 months to see who has been performing well recently while still keeping a significant sample size. Good luck to everyone and we are always looking for feedback on how to improve the readability of our content!

FaZe V G2 (12 PM EST) G2 -122 / Faze -110

PlayerSalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundImpact

With Niko showcasing his talent for the past week as one of the premier players in all of CS:GO, Draftkings has made the inconceivable decision to lower his price down to $7200. When looking across recent performances and the state we’ve included in this article, it’s clear that pricing has no actual correlation with player’s skills and should be generally ignored outside of making a roster fit under the cap. He has as good a chance as anyone to be the top scorer on this slate, and we will be rostering him accordingly.

A step down from Niko, coldzera and rain are both available at discounts of their true value, with coldzera being one of our favorite captain picks of the day given that low salary that allows you to spend elsewhere. Rain struggled yesterday and a lot of people may back off of him today so you may get some sneaky value at a low ownership if he has a nice bounce back performance in a close series. He certainly has the talent to do so.

Top Plays: Niko, coldzera, rain

G2 is an interesting team today due to Draftkings’ pricing. Vintage kennyS is back and he and  hunter- (#8 in the world today) represent their go-to options but are priced below the players they consistently drag to victory. This is a strange situation that likely will not happen again, but take advantage of it while you can. If kennyS’ performance yesterday was not enough to convince you, his ceiling is one of the highest on the slate but with the risk that he flops.

Hunter- is the more consistent option here without the ludicrous upside that kennyS presents, priced like a washed-up Swede (sorry olof). The #8 player in the world can anchor a number of solid teams at this low price and his ownership will be very high amongst our lineups.

You can likely ignore the rest of this team, there are safer options at their inflated prices.

Top plays: kennyS, hunter-

Chaos V Mad Lions (1 PM EST) Chaos +257 / Mad Lions -385

PlayerSalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundImpact

As a large underdog, the top players are going to have to press in order to have a chance and steel and SicK will have to step up. They are correctly priced for where they need to be and will have to have big games to pull off the upset win. As long as smooya is unavailable, look to SicK and steel to carry the load.

Voltage is cheap and there will be points to have for him. He’s not one of our go-to plays but if you want a lower owned and cheap player with a solid prospect of hitting value, he’s your guy.

Top plays: steel, SicK, voltage

As large favorites, you have to hope that your players kill it from the beginning in order to get a large bonus for not playing a third map. AcoR and sjuush have been anchors of their recent 3 game win streak and can hopefully put up big numbers quickly if it doesn’t go the distance.

Bubzkji has been up and down and we see him as a tier below the top two who are arguably their 1a and 1b options. That being said, the prices here are scary but in a slate that features so much value there may be some logic to getting shares of someone from a less flashy franchise for some low-ownership gold.

Top plays: sjuush, acoR, Bubzkji

C0ntact V FunPlus Phoenix (4 PM EST) C0ntact -152 / FPX +112

PlayerSalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundImpact

This matchup is really the worst of the slate from a fantasy perspective and one we are likely to largely avoid. That being said, EspiranTo is likely the best target here and the other two listed are very meh plays but worth mentioning for not being totally inept.

If you play emi you should probably close your account and we wouldn’t touch him at -$300.

Top plays: EspiranTo, ottoND, rallen

On the flip side of this matchup, the former Bad New Bears squad has been rebranded and the entire roster is intact. Dapr is the usual leader of the team in any scoreboard category and his price reflects that. Most of the rest of the team are consistently middling and will show flashes and are therefore mentioned here.

Top plays: dapr, jonji, mitch/crashies

FURIA V Liquid (4 PM EST) FURIA +260 / Liquid -370

PlayerSalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundImpact

FURIA is led by KSCERATO and yuurih who are very underpriced here relative to their lesser teammates for no reason we can understand. We would avoid their more expensive players and look elsewhere, but the value plays on this team are good options for the slate as a whole. Liquid has allowed big performances to cheap players recently, and we are looking to cash in on that again. Be wary though, as Liquid may very well steam roll this team and everyone could score poorly.

Top plays: KSCERATO, yuurih, arT

Somebody at Draftkings is a big Liquid fan and keeps putting their prices at the top of each slate, but he may be right. NAF and ELiGE are two of the best players on this slate and can be a great combo to pair on lineups, with a high floor and a great ceiling as well.

Stewie2K is the most frustrating, exciting, and irritating player in CS due to his drive to do the unexpected. Given this strategy, he has the potential to take over any game he is in, but with a great deal of risk. We will not have a lot of exposure to him on this slate, given how close in price he is to NAF, but you must always be aware of his potential to control a game and rack up entry frags. As a large favorite, he may be very aggressive.
Top plays: NAF, EliGE, Stewie2k
