We have another day where we can look at team composition as more of a pick ’em than true roster building. We have a lot more expensive players than in days past but there is still plenty of value here to pretty much negate that. Some of the top gpp lineups over the past week have featured 2-2-1-1 or 3-2-1 lineups featuring pairs of players on the top teams of the day. If you look at a slate and see a few teams you feel will dominate, work out a few lineups with different wombo combos to try to take advantage of some juicy adjustments. We are going to put together a mini podcast soon, reviewing the previous day and different lineup building strategies that have shown to be effective for cashing versus chasing a gpp.
Draftkings’ scoring follows the chart shown below, with a focus on K/D and clutch plays. Rosters are set with a Captain position who receives 1.5x his points at 1.5x his salary, but beyond that it is positionless. This is important to understand because CS teams follow a composition of different roles such as IGL (In game leader), entry fragger, support, etc. With Draftkings making no distinction between players, it is left to you to decide which roles are most important within this scoring system and to take advantage of that. For several teams for example, their IGL is not often going to score highly as they may be less skilled at the game but are valuable in ways that Draftkings doesn’t record. With that in mind, I will jump into a quick look at the roles of key players, their key stats, and how their perceived performance should fair in accordance with their salary.
|Statistic||Fantasy Points*Players drafted as Captain earn 1.5x fantasy point values|
|Entry Kill (First Kill of the round)||+0.5 Pts|
|1v2 Clutch||+1 Pt|
|1v3 Clutch||+2 Pts|
|1v4 Clutch||+3 Pts|
|1v5 Clutch||+5 Pts|
|Quad Kill||+3 Pts|
|Game Length adjustment||Adjustment for 30 max rounds (A players score gets multiplied by 30 and divided by number of rounds played)|
Our top plays are designed to show the most playable options on each team, factoring in performance and price. The top 2 plays on each team will be in our player pool and the third tier top plays are people we will sprinkle in a bit along with the core group. All of the statistics shown are for the last 3 months to see who has been performing well recently while still keeping a significant sample size. Good luck to everyone and we are always looking for feedback on how to improve the readability of our content!
S V FUR (12 PM EST) S +214 / FUR -294
FURIA is on a roll and now they face swole patrol. If anybody can explain today’s price for Zellsis, you win a prize because this is a total joke. He’s $5000……i just…idk. Just play him often and take it to the bank. Cooper- is also a solid option but we have seen a few underdogs get beaten badly recently and you may want to be careful with your exposure. Using Zellsis or Cooper- to help with salary probably makes the most sense, but a combo likely will not work out well.
Top Plays: Zellsis, Cooper-
FURIA has great team unison that helps create great situations for its players to succeed and for them to win as a group. This leads to some decently balanced team play but with notable leadership in KSCERATO. Their prices are remaining stagnant and their ownerships are often high but this is a good matchup for them to exploit. Look for KSCERATO and yuurih to continue leading the squad in this matchup.
Top plays: KSCERATO, yuurih
FPX V C (1 PM EST) FPX -120 / C -108
This should be a fun game! FPX and Chaos come in at nearly dead even betting lines and they both have been losing games all over the place. This FPX squad is led by dapr and after him there is more consistency and not a clear next in line guy. Crashies is our favorite of the rest but these prices should really be reserved for more top-line talent than FPX provides. Be careful with exposure to this group.
Top plays: dapr, crashies
I don’t like this team as their current roster construction is fairly recent due to having to drop smooya. Steel and SicK are our favorite guys on the squad but this is not a very appealing spot for DFS in our opinion. We’ll sprinkle these guys in a bit but they are not a high priority. We are trying to confirm if voltage is playing or not (or mCe), but it is irrelevant for DFS.
Top plays: steel, SicK
cG V MAD (4:00 PM EST) cG +173 / MAD -233
MAD Lions just manhandled the c0ntact squad last week in a 2-0 series that wasn’t very close. Rallen and EspiranTo were the top performers but were not particularly noteworthy. They are usually CG’s top performers and will have to do better in this matchup to turn it around or to even get double digit round wins on a map, which they failed to accomplish in their last showing against MAD. If you look here for a lower-owned option, rallen’s price makes him more attractive.
Top plays: rallen, EspiranTo.
In their steamroll over cG last week, acoR and sjuush were in their usual positions at the top of the teams leaderboard and DK has noticed and priced them accordingly. They have swept their last 3 series 2-0 and could be in line to do it again. We find it hard to choose between acoR and sjuush (slight edge to sjuush) so we will likely pair the two whenever possible as the series is likely to reward both. Bubzkji has performed well lately, but he was a popular pick last time MAD played, and we will be fading him to try to gain an edge on the field.
Top plays: sjuush. acoR
MiBR V EG (4:00 PM EST) MiBR +238 / EG -333
What on earth happened to fer yesterday? FalleN and kNgV led the way in that series and fer fell to the wayside with a weirdly poor showing. As large underdogs, MiBR will have to show more consistency at the top of the scoreboard to be able to compete. Their bottom two players are usually trash so it comes down to their top 3 guys and how they perform. We like FalleN the best in this spot and think his AWP usage will play nicely in this series.
Top plays: FalleN, fer, kNgV
Just lock in Brehze and CeRq here, they’re hungry for tacos. They are EG’s big boys and in a great matchup they should top the scoring here again. CeRq had some awful moments yesterday and still managed a +2 line against a red hot FURIA squad. Ethan and tarik randomly know how to play CS and you can play one or the other once or twice but do not bet your stimulus check on these guys.
Top plays: Brehze, CeRq
