4.4.20 LOL LEC/LCS Slate

So….. let’s address the elephant in the room.

I have no idea how G2 managed to throw as hard as they did, but here we are. It’s extremely disappointing given the level of skill on that single roster. Sure, Mad Lions did play well, but come on. I don’t even think G2 understands what happened, but I think the Caps and Mikyx backdoor attempt pretty much encapsulates everything wrong with that series. Let’s break this down.

Caps on Ziggs and Mikyx on Bard, headed straight for an open nexus. Most of Mad Lions are recalling, while Humanoid on Syndra is right on their heels as they enter the base. Mikyx managed to land the Bard ultimate on Syndra, keeping her from chasing for a few seconds. I wondered if he might’ve been better off saving it for multiple enemies, but that train of thought didn’t last long as Caps decided to throw the Mega Inferno Bomb right behind him while Syndra was in the Bard ult stasis. They got a lot of damage onto the nexus, and Mikys was great in sending Caps through a tunnel across the nexus, but Caps decided to spend his very limited time launching himself into the incoming Sett with his Satchel Charge. I mean, I get he was trying to get away from Syndra and it was a high stakes situation, but if he made literally any other decision there G2 could have won the game right there.

I could go through most of the game and point out ridiculous plays, but we’re here to discuss upcoming games. If you went hard on G2, it’s possible you are relying on tomorrow’s Fnatic versus Origen matchup to salvage you some points. Or you might want to just start fresh with the newest slate, including tomorrow’s LEC game and North America’s matchup, EG vs FlyQuest. Either way, let’s get into it.

I won’t say much about this matchup as I already wrote about it in yesterday’s LEC article. The only thing I might add is the potential of Rekkles as a pick amongst the Origen lineup. Basically, if you put a lot on Origen, it might be worthwhile to add Rekkles in case he dominates, as he is one of Fnatic’s best players. Also bear in mind there are two new adcs in the mix for this slate, which I will discuss below.

Our first NA matchup should be an interesting one. After watching so much LCK and LPL recently, it’s strange to see just how… different NA is. When watching teams like these two, you can see just how unorganized these teams are in comparison to the east. Still, this matchup is fairly even, which could make for a tough choice.

When it comes to top laners, Kumo fails to impress as a pick. When he does do well, it’s generally as a supporting top laner rather than a killing machine. Avoid him, but Bang and Zeyzal would be great choices. Their bot lane seems far more solid than FLY, and could be easy points. At the same time, EU has some fantastic bot lanes in their playoff series, and it may be better to invest there. I’m very curious about the mid lane matchup; if EG does get to play ryze, Jiizuke could very well annihilate FLY. Even without that champion, he has had a very solid showing as of late, and could be a very enticing mid pick. As for jungle, if you choose to go for NA, you might as well follow the team you think will win (I’m going to ultimately side with EG, but it could be close).

EG Top Picks: Jiizuke, Bang, Zeyzal FLY Top Picks: PowerOfEvil, IgNar
