4.13.20 LOL LPL Slate

Things are starting to look normal… for the most part. Every matchup resulted in a 2-1, so games were a bit close at times. Dominus managed to take the series with a very close Game 3. Both teams cracked 80k gold that match, with Dominus up by only 5k at the end.  DragonX cut AF’s comeback short, which wasn’t surprising at all, although taking a game on DragonX is sure to be a morale booster. EDG did give FPX a bit of a fight, but ultimately the better team won, and iG versus BLG was a very similar story. What was surprising, however, was GenG losing to Hanwha Life Esports. They weren’t one-sided matches, but still. Definitely surprising.

Now that we are focusing strictly on LPL for the next few days, things might make a bit more sense… or it can get even crazier. Only one way to find out.

OMG has had a fairly decent record lately, but if eStar truly is back, then this could be rough. We’re hesitant to say they are 100% back in form, because you never really know, but it sure is tempting to believe it. They score ridiculously high when they win and host some phenomenal picks.

When OMG does well, H4cker and icon have had decent scores, so they might not be the worst picks… but nothing really compares to what ES is capable of. Cryin and Wink especially will dominate, while the others are at least guaranteed heavy assists in matches where they aren’t the superstar. Play around with costs and see what works best, as the right lineup with eStar players can destroy. If they aren’t back, however, then it is an expensive waste of salary and could destroy your lineup.

Despite their weaker performance lately, RNG have a pretty decent chance here. LNG’s record has been pretty bad, and they are practically tied for last with DMO (V5 doesn’t even count anymore.) RNG’s victories recently were slightly overhyped, but there is no denying they are a solid team.

Langx has had some fairly consistent games, sometimes moreso than xiaohu or Betty. This makes him an excellent top lane pick. RNG’s players are the cheapest of the three favored teams at the moment, but it isn’t a huge gap. Xiaohu and Betty aren’t bad choices, especially against a team like LNG, although there’s no certainty they will both give you the best value. Meanwhile, LNG’s Maple is likely to lead their team if they can pull off an upset, which isn’t entirely out of the question; at the very least, this matchup is the most likely to see an upset in this slate. Keep in mind, chenlun17 and Light are subbing in for LNG, and could be subbed out if they underperform in game 1.

Basically anyone on TES could do very well, but keep in mind that JackeyLove and yuyanjia have been subbed in and could potentially be subbed back out if things go sideways. They have great potential against this joke of a team, but there is some risk involved. Knight and Karsa are staples for this team and should be able to feast in this matchup, but remember that the cost for Top’s players will be higher than normal. You know… because V5.

JackeyLove is an interesting case. He won the World Championship for iG in 2018, but we aren’t really sure what will happen here. Seeing as it’s V5, they could be easing him in, so his performance this match isn’t likely to be a valid indicator of how he will do in future matches.

TES Top Picks: Knight, Karsa V5 Top Picks: hahahaha
