4.14.20 LOL LPL Slate

Given eStar’s performance against OMG, it might be safe to say they are back. It will be interesting to see how they fare against the strongest teams in the LPL, like iG and FPX, but they should be safe picks when playing against weaker teams. RNG took down LNG fairly easily, and you’ll never guess how the V5/TES series turned out. Although, there was an interesting take away from that series, and it was JackeyLove. He did alright Game1, but he ended up dying quite a bit in Game 2. Hardly surprising given how hard they focused him, but the question remains if he can perform against a better team. People were honestly wondering if TES would give up a game or even the series if JackeyLove kept getting caught. It was his first game, so it makes perfect sense he would have a rough go, but if JackeyLove plans on playing more this split then he needs to take it up a notch.

This should be a very exciting matchup, with two incredibly solid junglers going at it. JDG is the stronger team overall, but by no means count RW out. Haro especially has been a monster, although Knight managed to surpass his highest kill game in the 4/13 slate. Also keep in mind JDG have been on a 4 series winning streak, including going 2-0 against iG in their last matchup.

As was mentioned above, Haro is likely to be RW’s strongest pick, although the same could be said for Kanavi. This might very well be the only matchup where this is the case, making it a difficult choice. Wuming hasn’t had many games this split, with 2 out of 3 having been played recently against RNG, so we’ll have to wait and see how he does against a team like JDG. As for the rest of the team, JDG’s players are safer picks, with focus on Yagao and LokeN. Still, it might be risky to include all 3 in your lineup; consider going for a few or including the support as well.

VG are considered the favorites here, primarily due to their victory against FPX. Given they were able to pull that off against one of the LPL’s strongest teams, it seems like they shouldn’t have much trouble against Suning. At the very least, their record recently has been better overall, seeing as Suning have only taken a series against V5 lately.

Angel72.1%4.27.7

SwordArt70.5%31.2

VG’s roster has been fairly split on kills throughout their games. Kills can be fairly spread out, and given that SofM and Angel are the stronger players on SN, iBOY might be a good choice. If VG plays the early right and establishes a lead, it may not have the most kills involved, but iBOY could end up running away with the game if given the space. He doesn’t have the best KP for an ADC, however, so it might be risky to put it all on him. Cube had a great game against FPX on Wukong, but it would be surprising if SN lets that through more than once. Still, with how unpredictable it might be, you might be better off grabbing Cube, Hang, or both and filling other roles with more consistent players.

VG Top Picks: Cube, iBOY, Hang SN Top Picks: SofM, Angel

LGD have been on a roll for a little while now, having defeated first WE then RNG, making their victory against OMG on Saturday far more believable. Now they find themselves against BLG, one of the weaker teams in the LPL at the moment. LGD could keep their streak going, or they might be worn out after their stronger matchups, leading to them not preparing as much for a team they think they can beat easily. Also keep in mind that despite BLG’s status as one of the weaker teams, they did take a game off of iG in their most recent series, so they could very well surprise us.

Peanut has been on a tear recently with some excellent jungle scores considering his performances earlier in the split. Yuuki isn’t too far behind, although as a mid laner he doesn’t always dominate the scoreboard in kills. Kind of like RooKie, there are times where he ends up with 1 or 2 kills and a ton of assists, but if BLG can’t keep Peanut from ruining them then Yuuki is one of the most likely to benefit from it. We’ve also seen more Corki recently, and that can be an amazing pick for Yuuki if left open… although FoFo might not fare too poorly with it either. Kramer isn’t a bad choice either for ADC, but that will depend on how long the game goes and where LGD plans to focus their attention. We’re leaning towards LGD to take the series, but that doesn’t mean they will wipe the floor with BLG; if they did, the Peanut/Yuuki combo would be great.
LGD Top Picks: Peanut, Yuuki, Kramer, killua BLG Top Picks: Meteor, FoFo
