4.15.20 CSGO LOOT & CLUTCH Slate

Oh boy do we have some crapshoot Draftkings tournaments in store for us here! There are 2 separate LOOT and CL slates and they both look like a mess. The Clutch series are a best of 2 format for no understandable reason, so teams can tie and each game has a massive favorite. We’ll therefore see only 4 maps in the slate and that results in crazy variability for individual performances with little chances to redeem a bad showing. None of us here will likely be touching either dumpster fire, but we will still do our best to set up the crazies amongst you to succeed there! Have some fun with the LOOT slate if you are in the mood for some B-tier 5 AM CS you glorious mess of a human being or the CL slate if you don’t want to get up early. Stay safe, have fun, and game on.

Draftkings’ scoring follows the chart shown below, with a focus on K/D and clutch plays. Rosters are set with a Captain position who receives 1.5x his points at 1.5x his salary, but beyond that it is positionless. This is important to understand because CS teams follow a composition of different roles such as IGL (In game leader), entry fragger, support, etc. With Draftkings making no distinction between players, it is left to you to decide which roles are most important within this scoring system and to take advantage of that. For several teams for example, their IGL is not often going to score highly as they may be less skilled at the game but are valuable in ways that Draftkings doesn’t record. With that in mind, I will jump into a quick look at the roles of key players, their key stats, and how their perceived performance should fare in accordance with their salary.

MiGHTYMAX$46000.930.5669.90%0.83

Our wonderful 5:30 AM slate, 2:30 for those of you on the West Coast, kicks off with the #49 team in the world as a slight favorite over #36. Endpoint has been playing solid Counter Strike recently but in this spot they inspire little confidence. Surreal has been on a solid streak for them and is priced fairly here for the +23 upside he has displayed. Thomas is an okay play if you’re going for the EP victory narrative but his price is high for somebody that is so up and down.

Top Plays: Surreal, Thomas

interz$60001.030.5974.10%0.82
nafany$500010.6567.70%1.04

Gambit Youngsters have been playing stiffer competition recently and have held their own against the likes of Virtus.Pro (VP is good in this context). Sh1ro likely has the highest upside on this 2 game slate but he’s certainly priced like it too. In recent poor team performances he has faded and been a nonfactor and we have to be cautious of that when considering lineup constructions. That being said, a 2 game slate requires some risk taking and if they are able to roll EP, he may be the top scorer on the slate by a hefty margin.

mouz$56000.960.6169.00%0.94
Vegi$44000.930.667.10%0.97

Not gonna lie, this team is kind of trash (22.2% win rate, neat) and I’m not quite sure why gg.bet’s odds are so close here. They’ve been getting rolled recently and a quick glance at the player stats above paints a picture of a team in distress (only 1 impact rating over 1!). These guys are priced like they are capable of doing well and we just don’t see it.

Top plays: We don’t feel comfortable recommending anybody here

SEC:

PERCY$88001.090.7170.70%1.02

anarkez$580010.6667.70%1
tudsoN$48000.950.6166.80%0.98

On the flipside of this matchup is a Secret team with a 45.5% win rate and some recent success. Juanflantroo is a consistent top performer here and we like him at a $1k discount over PERCY, who has been a mixed bag of late. That being said, we will likely target this team for a stack and hope PERCY has one of his better showings. Anarkez is an interesting flyer here for a 3rd wheel at a cheap price as he has been one of the best performers in 2 of their recent series. If this series goes well and he can be a factor, he can round out a roster nicely for under $6000.

WM(+583) V RED(+104)   DRAW(+111) (5:15 PM EST)

WM:

PlayerDK SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact
pancc$84001.130.7569.30%1.22
ableJ$74001.130.7371.00%1.16

real$54001.060.6672.70%0.96
raafa$46001.020.6666.50%1.02

As the biggest underdog on this slate, don’t expect too much from WM here. RED easily won 2-0 the last time these teams faced off, and we are expecting the same again here. Pancc would be an interesting play here if he wasn’t so expensive, but real has looked real good lately and comes in at a miniscule $5400. There is a chance that this is a 1-1 draw, so getting exposure to both teams may not be the worst idea, but it’s hard to justify paying so much for a huge underdog.

Top Plays: real, no 2nd, pancc

RED:

PlayerDK SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact
latto$90001.320.8280.20%1.29
DeStiNy$82001.210.7971.70%1.29
fnx$76001.150.7174%1.13
nython$66001.190.875.90%1.17
nak$56000.990.674.90%0.81

RED is the most likely team to win 2-0 on this slate, and a team stack could pay big dividends. Latto has been in s1mple mode recently, top fragging in this team’s last 5 series. His price reflects that, but he will still be a staple in our lineups if we decide to play this slate. The next 2 players on this team are nython and DeStiNy, with fnx and nak usually near the bottom of the scoreboard. Nython seems underpriced here and is a great player to combo with Latto to offset his high price. On a small slate like this, a 3 player stack is almost required, and RED provides the best potential to win you a gpp.

Top plays: latto, nython, DeStiNy

Key(+126) V SOBE(+488)  DRAW(+101) (7:00 PM EST)

Key:

PlayerDK SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact
piriaz1n$94001.060.7365.70%1.22
jnzika$88001.020.6269.70%0.97
tifa$78000.970.6765%1.01
mawth$62000.910.6166.00%0.86
bnc$50000.910.5965.00%0.89

This is a matchup of two awful teams, and shouldn’t make for the best viewing experience. Still, we need to have some exposure to this matchup as someone is gonna do well here. We are expecting a 1-1 draw, and will have some exposure to both teams to go along with a RED stack. Unfortunately, piriaz1n and jntzika (DK misspelled his name) are very expensive, but tifa, who has been their best player recently, is fairly priced. Although not as impressive as latto, tifa has topped Key’s scoreboard 3 series in a row. He makes for a great 1-off play since it will be hard to afford the top guys here. Mawth and bnc are priced where they should be, so don’t expect a huge performance from either.

Top plays: tifa, no 2nd, jnzika, piriaz1n

SOBE:

PlayerDK SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact
vhz$80001.060.7662.60%1.21
abr$72000.910.667.30%0.86

tge$52000.880.5868%0.71
fells$42000.740.4759.50%0.74

With betting lines favoring a draw here, you may want to look at SOBE, but be warned, it’s not pretty. Vhz is easily their best player, but is priced as such. He makes for a great ping pong with tifa, as both players will have to carry their team. Gust is new to this lineup and has only played 1 series, where he was on the bottom of the scoreboard. After vhz, tge and abr have been the next players up, and at his very low price, tge is a great salary relief option. At $7200, abr doesn’t seem worth it unless you are making a team stack.
