4.16.20 LOL LPL/LCK Slate

The matchups in this slate have a lot more potential for one-sided, kill heavy games than the previous slate. 1 of the 2 LCK matchups is fairly one sided, while the LPL seems fairly obvious at first glance. What is important is finding the right players to focus on, but there should be a few different lineups available in this slate that will get you scoring high.

Honestly not going to bother saying much about the V5 matchups until they prove they are worth talking about. Only thing we’ll mention is their focus from their matchup against TES, where JackeyLove got demolished in Game 2. Still, it didn’t matter much in the end. We’ll still talk about which players look good on the opposing team.

BLG’s victory over LGD saw kingen on Vladimir in the second match, which turned out to be very strong. This pick isn’t exactly common for kingen or for any top in general, but seeing as they’re against V5, they might just decide to roll with it. When not on Vladimir, kingen does pretty decently in top lane and could be worthwhile, although remember the costs of V5’s opponents are always going to be high, so prioritizing the best BLG players is crucial. XinMo and Meteor will likely be easy assists, although there are better jungle picks in this slate, while FoFo and jinjiao are likely to score high. Jinjiao isn’t the cheapest adc, but his price is pretty good considering he has high kill potential in this matchup.

This matchup is going to be a bit sketchy, and might not be worth investing in considering the other games in this slate. Griffin has had its share of troubles this split while HLE have lost quite a few games, although it’s strange they managed to beat both GenG and Dragonx over the past few weeks. Still, those victories are no guarantee, especially if Griffin comes prepared. There could be some high kills, but this is probably the most risky lineup to choose from.

The Top and Jungle matchups don’t particularly stand out here, while mid and adc look rather interesting. Tempt has been obsessed with Zoe recently, while their sub Lava has played mostly Leblanc. It’s possible one of these players can score very high against Griffin, but it’s a bit of a guessing game as we don’t know who will play which matchup. Bot lane is the usual story, with the adc on the winning team likely grabbing a decent KDA, but like we mentioned above, this matchup isn’t as ideal as the others in this slate so you might want to consider avoiding it altogether.

LGD did have a decent winning streak going on, but their loss to BLG ruined it for them. Now, they have to take down FPX, which is looking fairly unlikely. Like with the BLG/V5 matchup, however, FPX has very expensive players, so be sure to target specific lanes for each matchup.

Crisp69.7%5.11

GimGoon doesn’t have the greatest KP, but considering he is cheaper than ES or BLG’s top lane he might not be a bad investment. You can’t really go wrong with the rest of the team, although Doinb hasn’t exactly been the star mid laner for a few series, mostly due to his picks. If they give him Kassadin, that could be an entirely different story, but it’s possible given LGD’s recent success that FPX won’t mess around. On the other hand, FPX have qualified for playoffs already, so they might just try new things out. Still, it seems unlikely FPX will give away 2 games for the sake of trying new strategies.

APK aren’t too bad, but DRX have been looking really solid for a while now.  The last time they lost a series was in late March to T1, so it would be surprising if they fell apart here. Keep this in mind: we’ve mentioned before LPL generally has the better performances, but T1 was a great team to have for the previous slate, so games like this can be very rewarding. Granted there are some amazing matchups in this slate, but that doesn’t mean you should immediately discount a series like DRX/APK.

Cover55.7%2.78.8
HyBrid69.3%410.1
Secret63%2.41

When APK does well, HyBrid is a monster. Cover has some decent games, but against a team like DRX and a mid like Chovy, he may not act as the carry here. HyBrid stands out mainly because he is incredibly cheap and will net you incredible points if APK upsets DRX. That is a bit of a risk, however, so if you’re feeling safe in DRX’s capabilities (which most of us are) then invest in them. The salaries for these players are a bit cheaper than some of the other matchups, so stacking DRX could be a great strategy this slate. If you’re looking for a decent 3 stack, Pyosik/Chovy/Keria is one option. Deft is a great adc, but he doesn’t always have the most kills, so you might want a different adc for your roster. This is merely an example, not the only good 3 stack.

ES seems to be back in action, while TES has had a couple of losses recently. They broke their 2 series loss streak with a victory against V5, so just pretend they recouped by playing Iron Tier NA Flex Queue. For those of you who aren’t familiar with LoL’s ranking system, that is literally the worst possible level of play you can reach; playing at the lowest rank in the worst region! But enough V5 bashing (we have plenty of time for that later.) Let’s take a look at the players.

Cryin71.5%6.48.3
Wink71.6%6.410
ShiauC71.7%41.1

Players like Cryin and Wink didn’t see incredibly high kill scores when facing OMG, which was a bit of a let down. However, OMG’s playstyle is pretty similar to Estar’s so that might have given them some trouble. What will be interesting to see is how JackeyLove fairs in this game. If V5 managed to target him with some success, ruining his KDA in Game 2, then who knows what ES will do to him. With it being his second series on TES, it would be surprising if he was the dominating force. With that in mind, you’ll want to work around every role but top, although don’t discount Xiaobai’s effectiveness. This becomes difficult to work around as ES’s players have the most expensive salaries of the slate, so prioritizing their players might mean sacrificing a few roles, which is a waste in a slate like this. If JackeyLove is back and still struggling to get used to his team, JNG/ADC/SUP might be a good three stack if you can get it to work, but play with the salaries and see if you can’t fit Cryin in somewhere. As far as mid laners go, he’s had some incredible performances.
