4.17.20 LOL CB Slate

Here we have CBLoL, the Brazilian League of Legends tournament! For some background, this slate marks the beginning of week 8 for the 1st 2020 Split, with games happening on the weekends (with some occasional breaks.) They are all best of 1s so there will be no sweep bonus, meaning the winning team won’t net you as many points as a best of 3 might. The playoffs for this tournament begin May 2nd, with 5 additional slates to come, spread out over this and next weekend. Let’s see what CBLoL has in store for us.

This is likely to be a close yet fairly exciting matchup. Both teams are right in the middle of the standings and haven’t had the greatest showings recently. FUR did manage to take down Pain Gaming, but they struggled to use their lead to close it out (they won after PNG made some incredibly questionable decisions.) Still, these teams do have decent scores throughout their games, so we’ll have to see what the players can do.

Alternative68.1%2.88
Damage70.721.8

Alternative and Tyrin stand out immediately due to their poor KDAs. Tyrin at least has played 8 games this split, only winning 3. Alternative is the main adc, however, and his performances aren’t too impressive… unless he is on Senna. His best games this split have been on Senna, so it would be beyond shocking if PRG let that pick through, especially since they destroyed them with the Senna pick the last time they played each other. The mid laners haven’t been too impressive, while Yampi has had some decent games even when losing. Both junglers are likely to see decent scores if they win, but the top and adc difference might skew it in favor of PRG.

ITZ is a bit lower on the ladder than PNG, but they have had some decent games against some of the stronger teams in this split. So despite the slight difference in overall ranking, this match could be pretty close. The last time these two teams faced off was March 7th, and PNG managed to come back from an early gold deficit, ending the game at 38 minutes with a huge lead. ITZ only got 4 kills that entire game, so they weren’t exactly dominating the early game, but they’ve had some great games since then against pretty good teams, even handing Vivo Keyd one of their 4 losses.

tinowns73.1%7.58.2

Tinowns shines above the rest of the players in this matchup with a higher KDA and consistently great games. He isn’t guaranteed to blow up the scoreboard, but if you plan on investing in this lineup, he would be a great addition. There are times where you aren’t sure if the mid lane or the adc are going to grab the kills; this isn’t one of those times. However, this isn’t an assured win for PNG, and  Hauz has had some great games as well when they win, so be careful.

ITZ Top Picks: Hauz, micaO  PNG Top Picks: SeongHwan, tinowns

After watching RDP play a number of games this split, it’s tempting to call them CBLoL’s V5. At least they’ve gotten more than one victory, but still. KBM isn’t a really great team either, but they appear to be stronger, so they might be a decent investment. Just keep in mind these two teams are at the bottom for a reason.

Wiz has an incredible Olaf game against VK, so that’s something that stands out. His scores haven’t been too great otherwise, but that game was fairly recently, so he might be able to replicate it against a team like RDP. Otherwise, Tutsz or Disave could be decent options, as they’ve done pretty well when winning. If RDP manages to turn it around, the bot lane might be a decent option, but it isn’t as likely.

RDP Top Picks: Patrick, BocaJR  KBM Top Picks: Wiz, Tutsz, Disave

Betting odds are currently framing this matchup as a toss-up, but the fun part here is to look at their total number of kills and deaths per game. 63.6 total between the teams! These teams both play long games as well and this could very well be the series to stack on this slate. Seeing as they are the top 2 teams in the tournament, expect a drawn out game with high stakes and high kill counts.

Flamengo has had some strong performances in the top and jungle, primarily in the assist column.  The rest of their lanes have some good performances, mostly in the bot lane with Absolut, but it isn’t always solid, and considering they are fighting VK then things might get dicey. VK’s mid and bot performed very well the last time they fought FLA, and have been consistent throughout the split. Definitely some decent players on both sides here, so a lot of good opportunities to play around with the roster and create different stacks.
