4.18.20 CSGO DH Slate

Draftkings has added a 6 PM CS slate today, covering the Dreamhack North America games. Since we have problems here, that leaves us putting together this article at 3:30 am so you’ll have all the info you guys need as soon as possible. This will be the first full slate with the new Draftkings scoring system and we have a bunch of meh games for it. Game length adjustments are no longer a thing, replaced by .5 for every round not played and 5 points for a sweep. So it doesn’t matter if you’re s1mple or Boombl4, you get 20 fantasy points as a bonus for sweeping and the losing players still get 15! This is beyond stupid to us as the top players are basically neutered by this system and the Tyloos of the CS world get an inexplicable boost. With that covered, we will jump right in.

Draftkings’ scoring follows the chart shown below, with a focus on K/D and clutch plays. Rosters are set with a Captain position who receives 1.5x his points at 1.5x his salary, but beyond that it is positionless. This is important to understand because CS teams follow a composition of different roles such as IGL (In game leader), entry fragger, support, etc. With Draftkings making no distinction between players, it is left to you to decide which roles are most important within this scoring system and to take advantage of that. For several teams for example, their IGL is not often going to score highly as they may be less skilled at the game but are valuable in ways that Draftkings doesn’t record. With that in mind, we will jump into a quick look at the roles of key players, their key stats, and how their perceived performance should fare in accordance with their salary.

The top 2 plays on each team will be in our player pool and the third tier top plays are people we will sprinkle in a bit along with the core group. All of the statistics shown are for the last 3 months to see who has been performing well recently while still keeping a significant sample size.

Bruh, their most expensive guy’s name is Boobie. This team somehow qualified for Dreamhack and boast a staggering 34.5% win rate in the last 3 months. They are the largest underdog on the slate and have not faced a team on the same level as C9 in a long time. Just look at their usernames; are they middle schoolers? In all seriousness, they shouldn’t have a chance in hell here and getting swept is a possibility. That may result in the most points some of these guys get, yay 15 free points for getting swept for some reason. If you’re feeling masochistic this evening, please still don’t stack these guys and just play them sparingly.

JT5800.86.5366.2%.8

If these prices don’t tell you this team’s structure, I don’t know what will. I’m sure JT is a nice guy, but he is a step and a half behind his teammates. Floppy and oSee are the 1-2 punch for this team, but they are priced accordingly. Sonic and motm have had their moments, but they are so expensive that it is hard to trust them. A 2-0 sweep is almost a guarantee, and because of the recent scoring change, you may not want to stack this lineup, especially at their prices. Using floppy or oSee as a 1-off, or pairing the 2 together could work out well in your favor though.

Spongey54001.02.6272.8%.87
Shakezullah48001.01.6371.6%.89

This triumph team has only played 1 series with their new additions Junior and curry, but they fit right in and led the team to victory. Before their arrival, Grim was the clear cut best player on this lineup, and he is priced as such. Junior had a monster +19 debut and is fairly cheap for his potential. Spongey has been consistent, but his numbers took a slight hit in their last series, maybe because Junior was taking all the kills. Either way, these guys will need to step up big time if they want to compete in this series, or else it’s gonna be Bad News for Triumph.

dazzLe5400.93.6465.2%.94

The Bad News Bears are back after their brief stint with FPX, but they have swapped out crashies for dazzLe. Unfortunately, crashies was one of their better players, and his replacement doesn’t exactly dazzle on the scoreboard. Dapr is still this team’s discount s1mple, and he should be able to have his way with this team that he went +8 against just last month. If you are looking for a second fiddle, mitch has been the guy recently, while jonji is usually at the bottom and ptr floats around the middle. A team stack here would be quite expensive, so you may need to find value elsewhere or stick with just 1 or 2 Bears.

jet-48001.02.6666%1.07

Recon 5 should be outgunned here by a comfortable margin and their prices are fairly high for a team in such a position. This is a new look roster after recently losing 2 members and they have only played once as a unit. Neptune and JazzPimp are playable if you go for the upset, but we aren’t feeling that here. We’ve included a few guys we may have exposure to but this is not a team to target today.

ryann5000.88.5664.8%.84

This Envy team has been playing much stiffer competition recently than Recon 5 and should be breathing a sigh of relief to have a matchup like this. Calyx has the potential to be a top scorer on the slate if he goes into hard carry mode and we will be playing him a bit despite the aggressive pricing. We will likely pair him with MICHU and moose for the most part when crafting team stacks, with an occasional Nifty here and there, but he is a step behind those guys in our eyes especially considering the price difference.

shinobi5200.94.6267.1%.93
Oderus4600.89.665.3%.9

Much like their namesake, the Monstars are probably going to lose this game, but Swole Patrol doesn’t have Michael Jordan, so they may have a fighting chance. The players are priced in the same order as their rating, which is great when some players have been performing better recently, such as shinobi. RIKO, Swisher, and shinobi are almost always the top 3 on the scoreboard for this lineup, but in this matchup, that probably won’t mean much. Oderus has only played one game with this team, and it wasn’t pretty, so we don’t really know what to expect here from him. If you want to doubt the Abadir brothers, a 3-man stack could pay off, but it’s very risky.

MarKE70001.08.6573.7%1.05

For a team that’s favored, these prices seem fairly cheap. The problem is, these guys have been all over the place on the scoreboard recently, so nailing down their top performers is gonna be tough. In their past few series, food and MarKE have surprisingly been the most consistent performers, followed by Cooper- and Zellsis. In saying that, the latter 2 were carrying this team in the few series before those, so it’s really all going to depend on who you can fit into your lineups. If stacking, getting 1 of the top 2 paired with food and MarKE could be solid, and between the 2, Cooper- has a slight edge. There is potential for a 3 game series here, which could be very beneficial considering Draftkings’ new scoring update that penalizes sweeps for some reason.
