4.19.20 CSGO DH Slate

Here we go into day two of the DreamHack North American closed qualifiers. We see the same teams we saw yesterday and a few matchups with lopsided betting odds. The Grand Final of the Flashpoint tournament will be a lot better to watch than these frankly crappy series but we are here to gamble for big stonks, not to care about ratings. Each series seems one sided but maybe we’ll see each go to 3 maps and no sweeps. Either way; step right up, make your bets, and then don’t watch any of these games.

Draftkings’ scoring follows the chart shown below, with a focus on K/D and clutch plays. Rosters are set with a Captain position who receives 1.5x his points at 1.5x his salary, but beyond that it is positionless. This is important to understand because CS teams follow a composition of different roles such as IGL (In game leader), entry fragger, support, etc. With Draftkings making no distinction between players, it is left to you to decide which roles are most important within this scoring system and to take advantage of that. For several teams for example, their IGL is not often going to score highly as they may be less skilled at the game but are valuable in ways that Draftkings doesn’t record. With that in mind, we will jump into a quick look at the roles of key players, their key stats, and how their perceived performance should fare in accordance with their salary.

StatisticFantasy Points*Players drafted as Captain earn 1.5x fantasy point values

Our top plays are designed to show the most playable options on each team, factoring in performance and price. The top 2 plays on each team will be in our player pool and the third tier top plays are people we will sprinkle in a bit along with the core group. All of the statistics shown are for the last 3 months to see who has been performing well recently while still keeping a significant sample size.

The first game we’ll dive into is a battle of the bots in ryann and JT who are both garbage. The odds put this game in C9’s hands and their 2-1 victory against this same Envy squad a few weeks ago makes that seem about right. Each map was hard fought and Calyx did an exceptional job. His price is really high here for a guy on a team that is an underdog though or otherwise we’d have him higher on our lists. We wouldn’t be surprised if they pull off an upset, but that would be in a long and drawn out series and hard fought for the bottom players on each side so stay towards the top if you play this series hard.

Top Plays: No first, Calyx, MICHU

We have Cloud 9 on the flipside in this game but the same holds true in terms of the series going the distance. We don’t expect a sweep here at all but likely a closer victory, so stay at the top of the team to avoid the players that are exposed in tight games. We’ll be avoiding Sonic and BOT JT but we will play their top guys. Enjoy motm at a discount and go on from there.

Top plays: motm, floppy, oSee

R5(+277) V BEAR(-400) (6:00 PM EST)

Reality was the only player who performed well in both series yesterday, and he comes at a discount to neptune, who put up respectable statlines as well, but seems a bit too expensive here. As such heavy underdogs, it’s hard to recommend anyone here, but if you really need a one-off, Reality will have to go off to have a chance in this series.

Mitch, dazzle, and jonji didn’t look good yesterday, but dapr was up to his usual antics as he and ptr were the top 2 performers in both series for this lineup. We can expect the same from dapr here, but ptr isn’t usually the most reliable option, especially at his elevated price. On paper, this Recon 5 team shouldn’t present a difficult matchup, but they did just sweep the Monstars and take a map off a solid Envy lineup. We don’t expect a Recon win here, but the scoring for BEAR may not be as dominant as it seems. In saying that, mitch is very cheap for a player that has been playing well, except for yesterday, so if you can look past those 2 series, he is a great player to pair with dapr.

Top plays: dapr, mitch, ptr

Swol Patrol played okay yesterday and Zellsis and food did their part to force the issue. They are the usual top guys recently for the stream team and they did okay in their last drubbing of Triumph. MarKE and Cooper- both did even better in that matchup, albeit in a small sample size, but it’s hard to imagine the same scenario in a 3 game series. This team is CHEAP for what looks like the best spot for a sweep on the slate, which gives an even more solid boost to a guy like MarKE or Cooper- for that schweet bonus of 5 points…ooooo. In all seriousness, this is our favorite stack of the day, considering upside and salary, and we’ll play them a bunch (except freakazoid).

Top Plays: Zellsis/food, Cooper-/MarKE

Grim had a hell of a day yesterday and he will have to keep the adrenaline flowing into this match. He’s another of those “he can kind of do well but he’s too expensive” players that we won’t be that high on due to a limited upside. For $8k, we want a hard carry who will lead his team bravely into battle, not the guy who does the least terrible on the wrong side of a shellacking. Shakezullah is a decent player who gets a solid number of entry frags and could be a stupid value play that gets a bonus 15 fantasy points in a sweep if he does okay in the games that are played. Be careful with these guys.

Top plays: No first, Grim, Shakezullah
