4.22.20 CSGO ESL Slate

Oooohhhhh boyyy is this a monster slate of games from the ESL Road to Rio. We all know what that means as well, brain dead pricing from DK and FD! Yup, lot’s of value to go around here and we should see some pretty high scoring teams being possible all over the day. Most of these games are basically major leaguers playing minor league teams and it’s a great day to head over to gg.bet for some matchups that seem like free money. We will try our best to navigate these games and pull out the very top guys once again. Good luck, stay safe, and game on!

Draftkings’ scoring follows the chart shown below, with a focus on K/D and clutch plays. Rosters are set with a Captain position who receives 1.5x his points at 1.5x his salary, but beyond that it is positionless. This is important to understand because CS teams follow a composition of different roles such as IGL (In game leader), entry fragger, support, etc. With Draftkings making no distinction between players, it is left to you to decide which roles are most important within this scoring system and to take advantage of that. For several teams for example, their IGL is not often going to score highly as they may be less skilled at the game but are valuable in ways that Draftkings doesn’t record. With that in mind, we will jump into a quick look at the roles of key players, their key stats, and how their perceived performance should fare in accordance with their salary.

StatisticFantasy Points*Players drafted as Captain earn 1.5x fantasy point values

Assists 1.5Assists 1Rounds Won 1

Sweep Bonus 22.5Sweep Bonus 15Match Won 10

Fanduel has 6 slots for a captain, 4 standard players, and a team. The captain position does not affect a player’s salary like it does on Draftkings. This is particularly advantageous for when you have an inkling that a superstar will put up a large performance but you don’t want to limit your options elsewhere. The team slot will be a lot of fun for those situations where you like a team to win but don’t like the fantasy prospects of any particular players so you can still get some exposure. We figure most users will try to pick the cheapest winning team because a lot of the stats you get points for are hard to predict, but a winning team should definitely fare better.

Our top plays are designed to show the most playable options on each team, factoring in performance and price. The top 2 plays on each team will be in our player pool and the third tier top plays are people we will sprinkle in a bit along with the core group. All of the statistics shown are for the last 3 months to see who has been performing well recently while still keeping a significant sample size.

Astralis(-526) V Complexity(+345) (9:00 AM EST)

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

This matchup is not exactly rocket science. It’s Astralis versus a bunch of losers and the odds are set up as such, at -526 favorites as of writing this. As always, this is a team where everybody is conceivably in play. Magisk is our favorite overall at the slight discount, with great recent performances in conjunction with being their best prior performer against Complexity. On the full day slate, gla1ve can be ignored completely but if you’re doing the early slate that’s a bit different due to salary constraints. They were swept the last time they played Complexity but even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while and it’s hard to imagine that happening again.

Top Plays: magisk, device/team spot, Xyp9x

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

If you are playing the all day slate on Fanduel, just skip this and don’t play anybody. The analysis will be just for the 2 game early slates where it is more risky to flat out ignore 25% of the players. It is important to note that Complexity swept Astralis 2-0 the last time they faced each other but it’s hard to imagine seeing that happen again. If you believe or just want a contrarian lineup on a super chalky slate, start with the risky oBo play who has been in solid recent form and was actually their top performer in their last showing with Astralis. His low price can help fit in the guys you really want but if this series goes the way bookmakers think, he could be trampled…GPP pick only. Beyond him, the next top options would be blameF (if you really commit to the Complexity win) or  poizon.

Top plays: No first, oBo, blameF/poizon

Fnatic(-455) V Ence(+308) (9:00 AM EST)

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

The other early game features the Grand Final winning fnatic squad against the memeiest of teams in Ence. They have an advantage for basically every map there is and this seems like much more of a sure thing than the Astralis series. KRIMZ, Brollan, and JW are our favorite targets here but in a 2 game slate you could try to use the other guys here and there as well to differentiate yourself. KRIMZ is the guy you should build around in the early slate and then pair whoever makes the salary work for you.

Top plays: KRIMZ, JW/Brollan/Team spot, flusha

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

EZ FOR ENCE ENCE ENCE……these guys are best known for a meme song that was birthed a long time ago in a galaxy far far away when they were a decent team. Simply put, they suck and shouldn’t be touched in the all day slate in this spot. If you make a deal with the devil for them to win for your contrarian early slate gpp, don’t venture down to xseveN at all, but try for some of the other losers in hopes for a miracle.

Top plays: Fully fading, even in the early slate except for a few stupid GPP lineups

NiP(+115) V Vitality(-149) (12:30 PM EST)

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact
Ninjas in Pajamas8200

These guys are expensive on Fanduel for being underdogs and aren’t much better on DK. We just saw them get swept by Vitality and Plopski and Lekr0 were their only positive players but we aren’t looking for just positive from $8800 on a large slate. This is a pretty much entirely avoidable spot. Unless you want to take a flyer on Lekr0 as a funky one off or something.

Top plays: No first, Lekr0, Plopski (contrarian risk pick)

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

ZywOo is the most talented player on this slate. He is the Lebron James, the Mike Trout, the Tecmo Bowl Bo Jackson of CS, but that doesn’t mean he will always top the leaderboard. This team is designed to take some of the burden of performance off of his back and his price here is reflective of his upside, but really crippling if he is just good. Also, the change in game length adjustments really limits the total upside of a player like this so we will probably fade him outside of some lineups where we stack some value options. Guys like RpK and apEX can likely perform in a similar fashion at a much bigger discount. We like their team spot here as well but there are cheaper options there. This all comes down to if you think Vitality will dominate or not and we see this as a solid win without much flashy domination which isn’t the best for fantasy purposes.

Top plays: No first, RpK/ZywOo/apEX, team spot

Red Canids(+157) V Boom(-208) (12:30 PM EST)

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact
Red Canids8200

Despite being underdogs, this is a series we feel that RED can win. They have been playing well recently and map selection is generally in their favor. They are the lesser talented team on paper but are in a good spot to upset. With that in mind, DeStiNy has been inflicting havoc upon his opponents recently and latto is underpriced on DK relative to his potential. We like this sneaky wombo combo in a situation that should see them with lower ownership than a lot of other guys on the slate. It’s just a matter of if you believe in the win like we do.

Top plays: DeStiNy, latto, nython

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

Betting odds are in their favor and they have a handful of talented players that are lesser known compared to a lot of their peers on this slate. Chelo in particular feels cheap on DK whereas felps is crazy expensive. Yel is an interesting option to pair with the two if you game stack here, which is a risky proposition given their pricing. Their team spot on FD also seems too high for the type of matchup this is.

Top plays: chelo, felps, yel

Imperial(+104) V Isurus(-135) (12:30 PM EST)

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

This series has one of the most even lines of the day and is a matchup of two of the lower quality teams in the ESL Road to Rio event. We will give a slight edge to Isurus but it should be a close series. If you hop on Imperial, you will need to rely on delboNi on DK who is massively underpriced and a top value option for the entire slate. SHOOWTiME is really the only guy here we don’t like at all and we may have some exposure to dzt and KHTEX in particular but this isn’t really a target game for us beyond the great value delboNi provides.

Top plays: delboNi, dzt/KHTEX

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

Isurus should be able to grind out a 2-1 victory here and that’s not greatly exciting for fantasy, is it? Decov9jse is a fine player and we like him on Fanduel, but his DK price is absurd. Reversive is is in a similar position and we may just avoid these guys on DK altogether and get some exposure on Fanduel. Nothing much else to say, not a series we think will be greatly relevant for fantasy within the big slate.

Top plays: decov9jse(FD), no second, reversive (FD)

Cloud9(-385) V Triumph(+269) (12:30 PM EST)

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

If you are playing on FanDuel, this is a very juicy series as oSee is insanely cheap for how good of a matchup this is. Unfortunately, Draftkings has both him and floppy at high prices where they will have to perform extremely well to make value. Thankfully, they are playing Triumph and should have some of the highest ceilings on the slate. It’s hard to see anything but a 2-0 sweep here, so if you can afford them, try to get some exposure to floppy and oSee when you can. Sonic and motm are always options, but they are too inconsistent to be mainstays on your lineups, even in this matchup.

Top plays: oSee, floppy

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

Triumph seems to be an intentionally ironic name? We don’t know but this should be ugly. Grim is a solid player but in a bad matchup he can only do so much. His price is low enough on DK for a one off flyer pick but even then we’ll have to hold our breath.

Top plays: Absolutely no first picks, Grim

100T(-213) V GenG(+160) (4:00 PM EST)

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact
100 Thieves8200

This team has the opposite problem of Cloud9; jkaem is very cheap on Draftkings, but priced about right on Fanduel. Gratisfaction and jks round out the top 3 players on this team, but at his discounted price, jkaem makes for a great play. On FD, Gratisfaction provides similar upside at a slight discount if you need value for some reason, but his high DK price is a little off putting . GenG isn’t necessarily the easiest matchup in the world, but 100T should be able to handle them.

Top plays: jkaem, jks, Gratisfaction

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

Although this isn’t a favorable matchup, GenG’s players are priced too low for their potential in this series. Koosta always has the potential to carry, and BnTeT has been in great form recently. They are priced accordingly on DK, but koosta comes in at a cheap price on FD that allows you a lot of freedom with your lineup construction. No matter which site you play on, either of these players makes for a good 1-off in a series that could end up closer than expected.

Top plays: koosta, BnTeT

Orgless(+345) V Evil Geniuses(-526) (4:00 PM EST)

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

For some reason, FanDuel decided to make WARDELL the 5th most expensive player on the slate. Thankfully Draftkings has these guys right around where they should be in a very tough matchup with EG. There is the off chance that WARDELL or Infinite can put up big numbers here, but we aren’t confident in them and will not be looking towards this team for our lineups. There’s a reason they are still Orgless.

Top plays: No one,     still no one,     Infinite, WARDELL

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact
Evil Geniuses8400

Brehze comes in as the most expensive player on Draftkings, and as such, he will not find himself in many of our lineups despite the great matchup. He and CeRq are the backbones of this team, but when one of those guys is $1,600 cheaper than the other, it seems like a no-brainer. If you can afford to stack the 2 of them, they have some of the highest floors on the slate, but that will be difficult to fit unless you plug in a couple cheap guys. Still, it’s hard to ignore great players in great matchups regardless of price, so try to get exposure here, especially on FanDuel where you can play other stars alongside them.

Top plays: CeRq, Brehze
