4.24.20 LOL EU Masters Slate

As we head into our third slate of the EU Masters, we’re starting to see how these teams play against each other. Quite a few of these games have been pretty one-sided, so teams like K1CK are important to watch out for. It hasn’t been entirely one-sided, however, as some of the dominant teams from Day 1 were defeated in rather spectacular fashion… looking at you, FNC.R. There aren’t a lot of games to go off of here, so we’ll keep posting the player stats from previous tournaments, and once we’re deeper into the EU Masters we’ll update the stats to reflect this tournament. For now, there simply isn’t enough data over the span of two matches (one for some of the teams here) for it to be a good enough indicator.

Considering WIZ were able to take down FNC.R, they are looking very strong going into this matchup. ESB didn’t fare too poorly against mouz, so they shouldn’t be discounted immediately, but WIZ exceeded expectations. Some of ESB’s players did ok against mouz, but compared to WIZ, they didn’t do much.

Just about every pick on WIZ would have been an excellent choice. Lukezy and Vzz dominated the kills game while Spooky and whiteinn both broke 20 assists. Klowny came close at 18, and he also had slightly fewer deaths than his other teammates, so that remained a great pick. Meanwhile, ESB went even in the mid and bot lanes against mouz, while the other players weren’t as well off. They ended up down 10k gold when all was said and done, so they didn’t do too well as a team. However, these players could do well if ESB manage to take the series, so keep an open mind.

After FNC.R’s performance, things are looking very bleak for them going into this matchup. Mouz isn’t a weaker team they will have no problem destroying, so they really need to regroup after their match against WIZ in order to come out on top here. Mouz had a pretty good series against ESB, so we’ll have to see if this was just a strange strategy FNC.R pulled or if they are going to fall apart.

xMatty had a pretty good game on Senna, with Bravado backing him up on Trundle support. The rest of the team was pretty squishy, and they definitely paid the price for that, with Dan and MagiFelix especially getting demolished. Pride had a pretty good game, but the lack of tankiness might come back to bite them, so they might change their lineup this time around to something more safe. Honestly though, Tolkin, LIDER, and Jeskla look great here. However, they are a bit expensive, so keep that in mind when making your lineup.

While VGIA had a great game against LDLC, DK’s match was very uneventful. Not only did they lose, but the game saw a total of 10 kills, with 3 of them going to DK. Unless this was a major fluke and they were caught completely off guard, then they might not be the best point of focus for this slate.

For VGIA, JNG/MID/ADC could be beneficial. Lamabear ended up with more assists than Erdote when all was said and done, and he looks to be a fairly solid jungler. Honestly, given the opponent, the other players might not be bad to include if you’re a fan of other mids or adcs in this slate, but bear in mind these are some of the most expensive players in the slate. Building a team will be hard, but maybe try and prioritize their carries.

RGO was the victor of the low kill game against DK, so they don’t seem as promising, even against LDLC. Given both teams and their performances, this might be a game to avoid, as neither team has too much potential to net you the most points.

Szygenda had a decent game on Aatrox, so he might be worth watching for future games. Players like Czekolad and Woolite might’ve had some trouble scoring high that game, so it’s always possible they’ll make a comeback against LDLC. Seeing as they aren’t too expensive, they might not be the worst choices for a lineup, but it might not be the best idea to bet the bank on these teams.

BTXL had a similarly bad matchup against GamersOrigin, where the game was close in gold and few kills throughout (although not as bad as RGO/DK.) GL, however, stands out due to their victory against YDN, a team that was looking alright going into that matchup. Odds are they can keep that momentum going, so we might see some more good things coming out of GL in this game.

Hjarnan68.9%4.848.72
Visdom72.1%4.381.5

Out of all the players in this matchup, Hjarnan stands out for his good performance on Taliyah. The other players on his team had decent performances, but he demolished the Kalista/Alistar bot lane, so he might have some more interesting tricks up his sleeve. Deadly/kaSing was a, dare I say it, deadly bot lane combination themselves, so they might give their team a needed boost, but the rest of GL might be too much for the team as a whole to handle. This might make the rest of GL’s lineup a decent point of focus, since Deadly didn’t seem able to carry his team in their previous matchup. In addition to this, GL have the cheaper players, so they might not be the worst investments if you’re in need of a top or jungle.

GO was on the other end of the BTXL matchup, and while their JNG/MID/ADC didn’t have the best scores, they were consistent. YDN, meanwhile, fell apart, especially in the bot lane, so they aren’t exactly favored. There isn’t really any guarantee GO will take the series, but they are looking good.

Cospect60.7%4.421.28

Endz/Cospect had some issues against GL, so they are probably not the greatest picks here. The picks for GO are more obvious, but we need to consider salaries carefully in this matchup. GO might be heavily favored, but considering the games in the EU Masters are still a little unpredictable at times, going all in on a team like GO based on their recent performances might not be the best move. If they weren’t as expensive, they would make for an easy addition, but blowing a lot of salary on them could have bad effects on your lineup. That’s not to say you must avoid them; they could very well destroy YDN, but there are some other good matchups that might be better to direct your attention towards.
