4.26.20 COD Slate

Yesterday had some great matches and we are now down to the final four teams. I ended up taking down the FanDuel $4.44 gpp using the picks in yesterday’s article, and hopefully you all enjoyed some success as well. This is a tricky slate as there are only 2 games, so I would suggest only playing lightly, or taking a day off and just enjoying some great COD.

The scoring here is pretty simple, as Draftkings and FanDuel are both using the exact same point system (shown below). This scoring is similar to CS:GO in that you need high kill counts to score well, but the interesting thing to note is that there is no adjustment of any kind, including sweep bonuses. This means that good players get penalized for sweeping since they miss out on big points from extra games. For Call of Duty, they play a 5 game series with the following game modes: Hardpoint – S&D – Domination – Hardpoint – S&D. For DFS purposes, Hardpoint will be the highest scoring gamemode, followed by Domination, with S&D significantly behind for the most part. This means that in a 3-0 sweep, players will be missing out on additional points from a 2nd Hardpoint, which will really hurt their scores. We will need to try to get players that will play a minimum of 4 games, preferably all 5, to ensure the most points possible. This means that game stacking could pay off big time if one series goes longer than the rest.

Included next to each player are their Kill/Death ratio for the season, along with their average Hardpoint capture time and Domination captures per game. S&D plants/defuses were not included as these are mostly situational and only a handful of players average a significant number. Team spots were not included as the maximum a winning team can get is 28, while the minimum a winning team can get is 22. For some reason there is no penalty for losing games, so a team will benefit from going to a full 5 games so they have a chance to win more S&D rounds. The strategy here is to just get the cheapest winning team to make the rest of your lineup fit, and it may even be possible to do well with a losing team if your players score high enough. The top plays for each team are decided based on a combination of expected performance and salary.

SEA V ATL   (4PM EST)

One of these things is not like the other, can you spot which one? Out of the 4 teams today, Seattle is very out of place, but they had the luxury of playing the LA Guerillas twice in a row and earned(?) a spot in the semi-finals. Atlanta has played a couple very close series, but they faced opponents much tougher than the Surge. Seattle did not look amazing against Dallas yesterday, but they still fought admirably. Atlanta should be a much tougher task, and with S&D almost a guaranteed loss, the Surge will have to try to steal a respawn to get to the coveted game 4 here.

Karma came crashing back down to earth yesterday as expected, ending up as the lowest scorer on the slate, and his DK price plummeted as a result. Normally this would be an enticing value play, but we don’t really need value today with the way Draftkings priced people. If you are playing on FanDuel, probably look towards Pandur instead, as he finally showed the upside I had been looking for this weekend. Octane is still Octane and you know what you’re gonna get from him, and if Seattle is going to win this series he will have to step up big time. The rest of this team is very inconsistent, but Apathy and Pandur are coming off hot performances and will need to ride that momentum if they want to get to the Grand Final.

Despite winning a close series against New York, aBezy was the only player here with a 1.0+ K/D. Atlanta had to rely on winning both S&Ds as their Hardpoint performances were absolutely atrocious, but they get a much easier matchup today in Seattle. I can see this series going to 4 games if Atlanta starts off slow again, but there is a good chance this is a 3-0 and not a great game for DFS purposes (unless Simp sets another kill record). Regardless, the usual duo of Simp and Cellium are always the guys to target from this lineup, but aBezy and Priestahh are both capable of big performances. Priestahh’s objective play makes him the safer pick, but aBezy has outperformed him in both series this weekend, so you may just want to save a little salary and ride the hot hand.

CHI V DAL   (2:30PM EST)

This is now round 4 of the Chicago v Dallas rivalry, with the Huntsmen having taken all 3 previous matchups fairly comfortably besides some shaky S&D performances. This should be a close matchup though, as Chicago has looked vulnerable this weekend, while Dallas is thriving in this online environment. A game 5 is certainly in play here, making this the preferred series to stack for DFS.

I keep waiting for big performances from this team, but they have been barely squeaking by their opponents thus far. In their win against New York, Gunless was the top performer with a whopping 0.93 K/D as Chicago finally realized that playing the objective is more important than getting kills. We’ll see if that’s the case here again, but they will need to get more kills against a team like Dallas to make it to another Grand Final. Formal has been their most consistent player this weekend and has played very well against Dallas, but for some reason Draftkings has him at only $6400. While Envoy hasn’t put up the best stats this weekend, his objective play boosts his fantasy points so much that it’s hard to look past him. Arcitys has looked good, but I still don’t like paying that much for him. He has also feasted on Dallas this season, so pairing him with Formal could pay dividends. Gunless is the cheapest player here on FanDuel and he just got the most kills on this team in their last series against the Subliners. He and Scump also had the most kills across the last 2 series against Dallas, so there is merit to playing them both. When you have a team with this much talent, it’s tough to single people out, so you may need to make decisions based on salary here.

After 3 straight series losses against the Huntsmen, Dallas is going to be thirsty for revenge. Since these teams last played, Shotzzy and iLLeY have improved tremendously, maybe due to these matches being played online now, but either way they struggled hard in these teams’ previous meetings. With the way they have been playing, I don’t see that continuing here, and iLLeY is still very cheap, even after being the 2nd overall scorer on yesterday’s slate. Clayster has been this lineup’s top performer against Chicago by far, followed by C6 and Huke, but C6 has really struggled this weekend. While there is merit to playing Clayster, he hasn’t been putting up the same kill totals as his teammates recently, so you may want to look elsewhere for big fantasy scores. The trio of Shotzzy, iLLeY, and Huke will need to step up if Dallas is going to finally take down the Huntsmen, and they are the guys to target from this fairly evenly spread lineup.
