4.28.20 CSGO ESL

We have 9 games today, 3 early DK only games, and a larger 6 game slate that’s on both sites. We have the #1 and #3 teams in the world, a bunch of other good squads, and some garbage as well. There are big favorites, big underdogs, and cloee games….all the components of a fun day for DFS which we sorely needed after the Brazilian dumpster fire slate yesterday. Let’s get back at it here and bring home the bacon on this otherwise drab Tuesday everyone. Good luck, have fun watching a great Astralis/Vitality game during work, and game on.

Draftkings’ scoring follows the chart shown below, with a focus on K/D and clutch plays. Rosters are set with a Captain position who receives 1.5x his points at 1.5x his salary, but beyond that it is positionless. This is important to understand because CS teams follow a composition of different roles such as IGL (In game leader), entry fragger, support, etc. With Draftkings making no distinction between players, it is left to you to decide which roles are most important within this scoring system and to take advantage of that. For several teams for example, their IGL is not often going to score highly as they may be less skilled at the game but are valuable in ways that Draftkings doesn’t record. With that in mind, we will jump into a quick look at the roles of key players, their key stats, and how their perceived performance should fare in accordance with their salary.

Fanduel has 6 slots for a captain, 4 standard players, and a team. The captain position does not affect a player’s salary like it does on Draftkings. This is particularly advantageous for when you have an inkling that a superstar will put up a large performance but you don’t want to limit your options elsewhere. The team slot will be a lot of fun for those situations where you like a team to win but don’t like the fantasy prospects of any particular players so you can still get some exposure. We figure most users will try to pick the cheapest winning team because a lot of the stats you get points for are hard to predict, but a winning team should definitely fare better.

Our top plays are designed to show the most playable options on each team, factoring in performance and price. The top 2 plays on each team will be in our player pool and the third tier top plays are people we will sprinkle in a bit along with the core group. All of the statistics shown are for the last 3 months to see who has been performing well recently while still keeping a significant sample size.

NiP(-227) V ENCE(+170) (9:00 AM EST)

PlayerDK SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

NiP should be able to handle this series with ease. This is part of the 3 game, DK only slate and they can definitely be a team to target in this context. They did lose 2-1 in their last series with ENCE but they scored well individually in that series and had a poor performance on one of their top maps which shouldn’t happen again. Plopski is their best player but is the third highest priced so he’s a no brainer and onew of our favorite targets on the 3 game slate. We like Lekr0 as well and he had a great series with ENCE as well to make us more comfortable here. REZ has been great recently but at 8,400 and with a poor recent performance against ENCE, he’s not a priority for us.

Top Plays: Plopski, Lekr0

PlayerDK SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

ENCE is the underdog here and even though they won their last series against NiP, none of the players had particularly good showings there. Even though we can’t entirely ignore a team on a 6 game slate, this is not a spot we are targeting. Allu is the best player and even he is middling and a player like xseveN might be the worst guy playing all day. On second thought, we can ignore them entirely.

Top plays: Nope

Dignitas(+393) V fnatic(-625) (9:00 AM EST)

PlayerDK SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

Dignitas is the big underdog of the early slate as they take on the newly crowned #1 team in the world. They lost to fnatic 2-1 in their last try and the first 2 maps were close before getting blown out. Their scores are all skewed a bit due to map one going past overtime. Hallzerk and GeT_RiGhT both played that series well. GeT_RiGhT has been struggling more recently, as has the team as a whole, and we are avoiding him over 7k. The same goes for f0rest on a small slate with more important players to spend on. We may one off hallzerk a bit as his price is as low as we’ll ever see it.

Top plays: No first, hallzerk

PlayerDK SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

Fnatic is the new top dog in CS and they aren’t about to get embarrassed again (EZ for ENCE). These guys will be top priorities for a lot of players on this early slate so we have to pick the right guys. Brollan is our top target here. He has been great recently and fragged out last time against DIG. He and KRIMZ should be highly owned and we may be underweight on KRIMZ at his price, favoring flusha instead. The high risk option here is JW who has been solid recently and played pretty well against Dignitas last time. He is cheap here on a team in a good spot on a small slate and he’s worth a flyer in a team stack where you’ll likely need to save some salary somewhere.

Top plays: Brollan, flusha, JW/KRIMZ

Copenhagen Flames(+151) V GODSENT(-200) (9:00 AM EST)

PlayerDK SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

The final game of the smaller early slate features two mediocre teams and everything we are looking at makes a GODSENT victory look likely. Despite a recent hot streak with their new roster, it’s hard to have confidence here and Farlig’s price is an instant turn off from him in a negative matchup. This leaves refrezh as the top option here but even then it’s a cringy pick. Queenix sucks but not as badly as his price suggests and there are dumber decisions to make than praying for him on a team where you stack a bunch of the other top options on the slate.

Top plays: No first, refrezh, Queenix(if you hate yourself)

PlayerDK SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

GODSENT is the final team to cover for the early only slate and they are a decently balanced team except for kRYSTAL. Maden is their top player but he’s another one of those guys that hardly deserves a 9k salary. STYKO and zehN are an interesting combo but are far less consistent performers than the top guys on other teams. This is our least favorite team to stack on the early slate but they are still in a good position.

Top plays: STYKO, zehN, Maden

Heretics(+134) V compLexity(-175) (12:30 PM EST)

PlayerFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact
Team Heretics5,900

We are now finally at the main slate with decent tournaments on DK and FD. This first game looks to be a close one but we are liking Heretics to get the upset win. Maka and Nivera have been a blast to watch recently and they should keep piling up the numbers here. We like either as a one off or a combo for the team stack as well. Lucky is playable as well but is not a priority at all on a big slate.

Top Plays: Maka/Nivera, Lucky

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

CompLexity has some talented players but this isn’t the spot to target them. K0nfig and blameF are oppressively priced on each site and should be mostly avoided. Poizon and oBo are more accurately priced but do they have enough upside to justify playing them? This screams AVOID to us due to pricing and upside issues that can be tucked away in favor of the slew of other teams going at it.

Top plays: Eh….

Astralis(-357) V Vitality(+252) (12:30 PM EST)

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

Astralis has dropped to #3 in the world but that should be plenty to clean up a Vitality team that is still unexciting despite being the home of ZywOo. Device has been on a tear recently and also performed well in both recent series against Vitality. We love dupreeh on DK as his price is a bit too low, just look at how Fanduel feels about him. The honest problem here is Astralis always performs well as a squad and the individuals come secondary and it’s always hard to see who will top frag past the more obvious options.

Top plays: device, dupreeh/magisk, Xyp9x

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact
Team Vitality6,300

ZywOo is one of those guys who is usually matchup proof and always a top target, but this is Astralis, can the same still be said? The question of his performance really might come down to map selection and Astralis is a smart team that will likely limit his ability to perform, given the trash he’s surrounded by. If you play him, you’re betting big on a lot of hero plays and a hard carry.

Top plays: No first, ZywOo

Movistar Riders(+345) V FaZe(-526) (12:30 PM EST)

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact
Movistar Riders5,900

There’s no way they win again, right? Ignore the mouz series because they look like they are playing with their feet right now. This is a hard pass but we included the guys to target if you make a contrarian lineup because you hate money.

Top plays: No first, no second, steel/ALEX

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact
FaZe Clan6,700

NiKo is the man, he is FaZe, and he is expensive AF here. Broky and coldzera have both been playing really well recently and we’ll gladly pair them on DK rather than bankrupting our teams for NiKo. His price is relatively much better on Fanduel and is better to play there. Rain and olof will continue to be ignored until they can show some consistency, but olof will have to unravel the secrets of time travel for that.

Top plays: broky(DK)/NiKo(FD), broky(FD)/NiKo(DK)/coldzera

Cloud9(+260) V Evil Geniuses(-370) (4:00 PM EST)

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

We aren’t sure why Cloud9 is such a large underdog here in a series that looks to be a relative toss-up to us but it is what it is. There is some solid value on each team here and it should be a popular game for DFS purposes. Floppy and oSee make up the wombo combo for this squad and their prices on dK are too low and oSee on Fanduel is an absolute steal. Sonic and motm have their moments but we won’t focus on anyone outside our top 2.

Top plays: floppy(DK)/oSee, floppy(FD)

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact
Evil Geniuses6,800

We have a similar situation here with Brehze and CeRq, but their prices are more reflective of their upside. Brehze is probably too much on DK but okay on FD. We like CeRq on both sites but he is definitely too cheap on Fanduel. We will also not look past these 2 here and might look at a game stack or 2 in our lineups if this series goes the distance.

Top plays: CeRq, Brehze(FD)

GenG(-263) V Orgless(+194) (4:00 PM EST)

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact
Gen.G 6,400

GenG should squash Orgless, they are all losers. Koosta is an absurd steal on Fanduel and a solid overall play on DK. BnTeT is the inverse of that but they are a fantastic pair on this slate. We also like autimatic a bunch and might three stack if we are feeling a little saucy, but don’t overestimate Orgless.

Top plays: koosta/BnTeT/Gen.G team spot(FD), autimatic

WARDELL streams and likes AWPing.

Top plays: OOF

100 Thieves(-455) V Triumph(+308) (4:00 PM EST)

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact
100 Thieves6,600

Our last game features another big favorite in 100 Thieves over a team most of you have never heard of. That being said, Triumph has a map advantage and could make this a closer series than anticipated…but I wouldn’t put a dollar on an upset. A 2-1 series would be great for fantasy reasons though and a few players here are worth a look. Gratisfaction has been their easy #1 player of late but he’s not really the best player on the team. He’s cheap on Fanduel if he keeps it up but isn’t talented enough to justify his DK price tag. Jks is awkwardly in between a decent play and too expensive for who he is and a coin flip is best to determine whether or not to play him. Jkaem has been ice cold but could use this matchup to reinvigorate himself towards the player that his stats show he could be.

Top plays: No first, Gratisfaction/jks/jkaem

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact
Triumph 6,000

If this series remains close, it would be due to Grim’s play but it’s not worth the risk to target guys on this team with so many other options.

Top plays: No first, Grim
