4.29.20 CSGO ESL Slate

Well, we expected Orgless to fold and fail today but figured it would be in the server and not as an organization. That being said, this was a long time coming and we intimated a few weeks ago that the players cared more about Valorant than CS and weren’t really even trying to practice or care anymore. We say good riddance to that joke of a team and look towards a new day with teams that actually care about this game and their chances to move on to Rio. Yes we see some massive favorites and underdogs that may not stand a chance but the point is they all care, will all try their best, and hopefully put on a show. Good luck, win some tournaments, and game on.

Draftkings’ scoring follows the chart shown below, with a focus on K/D and clutch plays. Rosters are set with a Captain position who receives 1.5x his points at 1.5x his salary, but beyond that it is positionless. This is important to understand because CS teams follow a composition of different roles such as IGL (In game leader), entry fragger, support, etc. With Draftkings making no distinction between players, it is left to you to decide which roles are most important within this scoring system and to take advantage of that. For several teams for example, their IGL is not often going to score highly as they may be less skilled at the game but are valuable in ways that Draftkings doesn’t record. With that in mind, we will jump into a quick look at the roles of key players, their key stats, and how their perceived performance should fare in accordance with their salary.

Fanduel has 6 slots for a captain, 4 standard players, and a team. The captain position does not affect a player’s salary like it does on Draftkings. This is particularly advantageous for when you have an inkling that a superstar will put up a large performance but you don’t want to limit your options elsewhere. The team slot will be a lot of fun for those situations where you like a team to win but don’t like the fantasy prospects of any particular players so you can still get some exposure. We figure most users will try to pick the cheapest winning team because a lot of the stats you get points for are hard to predict, but a winning team should definitely fare better.

Our top plays are designed to show the most playable options on each team, factoring in performance and price. The top 2 plays on each team will be in our player pool and the third tier top plays are people we will sprinkle in a bit along with the core group. All of the statistics shown are for the last 3 months to see who has been performing well recently while still keeping a significant sample size.

Copenhagen Flames(+412) V G2(-667) (9:00 AM EST)

PlayerDK SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

We start our 3 game early slate with a massive underdog in CPHF, with betting odds for them at +412. There is not much to say positively about them and their only decent guys are expensive in an awful matchup so move along and ignore them.

Top Plays: No first, no second, Farlig/refrezh (risky upset)

PlayerDK SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

G2 is in a good spot here and DK went overboard with their pricing as a result. Nexa has been en fuego recently and his price has ballooned past his skill level unfortunately. HuNter- is in a similar position and we’ll have to figure out if the plus matchup makes up for the pricing in a big enough way. KennyS is a better value but he’s been on a down swing as of late and is pricy for the risk involved. If you want to try to stack here, we’ll need some value elsewhere to make it possible. Also keep in mind that a sweep limits fantasy opportunities for top performers.

Top plays: No first, nexa/kennyS, huNter-

North(-179) V GODSENT(+136) (9:00 AM EST)

PlayerDK SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

This is a much closer matchup of two crap teams and we see North as a slight favorite but in a close series, depending on how map selection goes. This is a weird team to predict for fantasy so we may use our gut a bit here to break it down. First of all, we don’t like aizy’s price much so he drops down our list. We also think gade sucks so he’s being ignored. MSL actually is the second highest rated North player recently and his price is crazy low. He is a risky player for sure, but he has been paying off recently and if you want to look into stacking G2, a player like him can open the possibility. Cajunb is preferred over Kjaerbye but both are solid, not great picks here. This feels like a close series that may not leave any stars lighting up the scoreboard here so we’ll hope enough rounds lead to enough opportunities.

Top plays: No first, cajunb/Kjaerbye, MSL

PlayerDK SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

GOD is a great DFS team because they have some good players and some truly awful players that lick doorknobs. The table above can make that pretty clear and STYKO is the prime target of them all at a solid price and showing good recent form. He is their second best player but he’s been moonlighting as their top frag as of late and we like his discount to Maden. He should be able to fare well even in a close loss.

Top plays: STYKO, Maden

c0ntact(+393) V mousesports(-625) (9:00 AM EST)

PlayerDK SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

Our last game on this mini slate features another massive underdog in c0ntact. That being said, they are playing one of the best teams in the world who just so happens to have been incapable of winning a single map on their very bumpy road to Rio so far. It’s easy to write these guys off and not discuss them, but mouz’ recent form has been abysmal and we have to approach this game as if they’ll blow it again just in case. If cG wants to continue the curb stomp of mouz, emi and ottoND will have to continue their solid play. Emi is another player like MSL whose price is not reflective of their recent play and we can try to ride the hot hand here again in a very risky matchup. OttoND is by far the more talented player overall but his price is higher and in a very negative matchup if mouz performs to their ability. Although we are assuming a mouz victory, cG is capable of stealing a map on Inferno.

Top plays: No first, ottoND, emi

PlayerDK SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

Alright mouz. Get swept once, shame on me. Get swept twice, shame on you. Get swept three times? Your road to Rio sinks into the Rio Grande instead. This looks like a painfully obvious victory against an inferior opponent but we’ve said that before. You were our favorite to take the grand final and you blew it and since you’ve been a chaotic mess of a meltdown. We know frozen, ropz, and woxic will be your top performers but are they finally going to do enough to win? We have to hope so and we’ll be targeting you all at a discount to the highly priced G2 squad that lacks your grandiose talent. Stacking here is possible with some value plays sprinkled in and we’ll start with frozen with a $600 discount and better recent form than ropz. Woxic has actually performed the best recently but the true wombo combo of the team are the ones that are sorely needed here and we expect them to carry hard.

Top plays: frozen, ropz/woxic

Dignitas(+177) V Vitality(-238) (12:30 PM EST)

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

Dignitas are the underdogs here but we like them for an upset and feel they might deserve to be the favorite. Vitality has looked feeble and DIG’s map pool pairs nicely against them so we’ll be looking for an upset or at least a 2-1 loss. Either option makes their fantasy prospects somewhat appealing.

Top Plays:

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

ZywOo is dope but he’s so expensive again, in a mediocre matchup, and has not been stellar recently. It’s impossible to fathom paying RpK’s prices here when he’s not a great player and the rest of the roster has little sex appeal.

Top plays: No first, no second, ZywOo

ENCE(+120) V compLexity(-156) (12:30 PM EST)

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

ENCE is in a tough position here and should lose this series, but they may steal a map if they play it right. Allu’s price is stupid, ignore him. Sergej has been decent and is cheap enough to consider. This is not a team we care to target for any reason and we’ll leave it at that.

Top plays: No first, sergej

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

CompLexity should be able to put ENCE down with little protest but they are not exciting for DFS. Even in wins, they are usually just a solid squad with little flash but guys like poizon and k0nfig could lead the way. BlameF is a solid player as well and is a better fit on Fanduel where the price is a better reflection of his skill than on DK.

Top plays: poizon, k0nfig(DK)/blameF(FD)

fnatic(-345) V Heretics(+245) (12:30 PM EST)

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

Fnatic are back at it after an upset at the hands of Dignitas and they run into a hot Heretics team here. We see this series being 2-1 in either direction and it should be a great game to target for fantasy. JW keeps rolling and his price stays the same. He’s risky but a fun pick to add to a game stack here. Brollan and flusha have been the big boys and flusha’s price is too enticing to ignore. KRIMZ has been in a mini slump but having some shares is a reasonable thought.

Top plays: flusha. Brollan/JW, KRIMZ

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

Heretics are undefeated on the road to Rio but they haven’t played the #1 team in the world yet. Their map selection is dicey but points to opportunities to take a map in the series and Maka would be the reason why. He has been a monster and his price has come up significantly but it is still approachable for the level of play he has been providing. Lucky is massively underpriced on DK and could have great upside there. Nivera is kind of in between the two and less of a focus. You have to really hope they can hang with fnatic for this to work out, but this squad has looked great.

Top plays: Maka, Lucky(DK), Nivera

Liquid(-909) V Envy(+509) (4:00 PM EST)

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact
Team Liquid6,800

Liquid are mammoth favorites and should not squander this series. The big question here is can you justify paying up for EliGE? Frequent readers must know how we feel about EliGE and NAF as we almost always advocate for NAF and his cost savings when he represents such a similar upside. It’s actually been a few series since EliGE posted a higher rating but the industry keeps jacking his price higher than NAF. Lock in the friends and family discount on him and don’t pay up for EliGE. If this is a sweep, everyone’s upside is limited so keep that in mind if you look down to one of the role players for your teams.

Bad News Bears(+194) V MiBR(-263) (4:00 PM EST)

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact
Bad News Bears6,000

At first thought you’d be confused as to why the Bears aren’t bigger underdogs here. Although they are significantly outmatched in talent here, they do excel on the maps that MiBR tends to ignore so there may be an opportunity for a 2-1 series here. This is not to say that the Bear guys are worth playing however.

Top plays: Fading

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact

This should be a win, it’s more of a matter of sweep or not to sweep. Our big three here show a strange price discrepancy on DK, and we love fer amd kNgV at the juicy discount. FalleN is easily the best play on FD however and kNgV is weirdly expensive there. This isn’t a complicated team, lock some of them in for a great matchup.

Top plays: fer(DK)/kNgV(DK)/FalleN(FD), fer(FD)

FURIA(-1250) V Yeah(+619) (4:00 PM EST)

PlayerDK SalaryFD SalaryRating 2.0Kills/RoundKASTImpact
FURIA 6,700

KSCERATO was originally listed for just over 9k on Fanduel and we had a stroke before seeing them correct it. They are in a stellar position here and a few guys are playable. KSCERATO is honestly just too expensive to play unless you are team stacking and have great value plays in mind. HEN1 and yuurih are left as the prime target then but with the potential for a sweep and their prices reflecting the matchup more than their individual skill, this is risky. The team spot is a great option on Fanduel but the players may be priced out of that qualification as top plays to target on a large slate with cheaper alternatives in a similar position.

Top plays: Team spot (FD), Hen1/yuurih, KSCERATO
