4.29.20 LOL EU Masters Slate

The EU Masters games are split into 3 different slates, with 2 games per slate (Bo1). We’ll include the information about all 3 slates in this article, so this will be your one stop shop for the EU Masters games tomorrow. Keep in mind, since they are different slates, you should be able to watch the teams play in the 1st Slate, and then make last minute decisions about your lineup based on their performances. The 3 slates are composed of the same 4 teams, so if you reserve a spot and see one team is doing horribly, you can make the necessary adjustments to your lineup.

The last matchup between these teams took place 5 days ago, and it had ended pretty well for VGIA. Thanks mostly to Attila on Senna, VGIA were able to take down DK, even if the kill count wasn’t as high; 5/0/5 was Attila’s score, and it was the highest that game. However, DK’s record so far hasn’t been too great, while VGIA have done well in their other games during the EU Masters, so this looks pretty straightforward.

Attila has been a solid player for VGIA, but don’t discount Pretty or Lamabear. They are all solid picks, and if DK aren’t prepared, this might get out of hand. However, it is worth noting DK’s scores aren’t always horrible when they lose; Chapapi went 2/1 against VGIA and Goose went 6/3/5 on Aphelios when they lost to LDLC. However, they also took 0 turrets in that game against LDLC, so it seems DK have some issues to work out as a team. If they come into this revamped, then those two picks could work well, and Alois’s slightly off-meta picks might give them an added edge. However, not too much time has passed for them, so it’s a bit of a gamble.

RGO’s best game was against DK, so they don’t have a lot going for them here. LDLC only lost to VGIA, and even that game saw some pretty great scores coming out of LDLC. We’ll have to see if RGO are ready to make a comeback, but LDLC are looking good here.

Hades’ KDA stands out here, but remember, these stats are only covering 3 games. He scored 10 kills on Varus the last time they fought RGO, so we might see that banned out, but the rest of the team is still a problem. Czekolad seems to favor the Azir, so we might see that banned out, as he did go 5/1/6 when losing (it seems to be a strange trend in the EU Masters. Don’t assume it will continue.) Woolite has had a decent record, but he might have more trouble against Hades and YellOwStaR, so that’s something to be mindful of. If RGO do perform, however, then Woolite could score high, potentially alongside Szygenda if he isn’t put on a tank.

Remember to watch the first 2 games in order to get a better idea of this matchup, but as of right now, VGIA still looks pretty good here. The games in Slate 2 are definitely closer than those in Slate 1, although that might change depending on the outcome of Slate 1. So for now, prioritize the same players we already discussed above, and make any necessary changes. If both VGIA and LDLC fall apart (which is unlikely,) then look for the team who seems more in control. For example, if both teams died very often, look to see how they attempted to play around objectives. Sometimes these things happen because they are simply outskilled, but if one of these teams loses Slate 1 tomorrow, it’s likely to be a team failure, which is sure to hurt them in the remaining games.

A quick note about the players in this matchup: last time we saw them play, Bando got destroyed top and ended the game 2/11/3. The other lanes were all pretty solid when all was said and done (YellOwStaR died a bit, but that is more expected seeing as the game got so out of hand.) Honestly, a lot of that was Bando just playing poorly, so unless he does very well in the first slate then be wary of him as a pick.

If things go as expected in Slate 1, then there might not be a lot to be shocked about in this matchup. RGO’s chances are pretty good here, but be on the lookout just in case; if DK don’t think they can beat VGIA, they might save their energy and strategies for this matchup. There’s no guarantee, but if DK try some crazy strategies in Slate 1, then be on the lookout for how they’ll perform here.

By this point, unless VGIA have fallen apart, it’s likely to be another VGIA victory. If they are completely worn out and lose their other games, then it’s doubtful they’ll have the energy to pull out a victory in this last match, but chances are it won’t come to that. We’ll have to see how RGO performs, but if they can’t take the other teams on, then this won’t look good for them.

If RGO loses consistently during this series, then consider going all in on VGIA. Just remember, however, DK plays one more game against LDLC, so that could be another worthwhile investment.

This matchup is a pretty similar story as the other in Slate 3, so be on the lookout for how the teams and players are doing. If DK surprises, then things could get interesting, but we’ll have to see. Just be prepared to change your roster depending on the outcome of the first 2 Slates.

In summary, the 1st and 3rd Slates of the EU Masters are the more predictable matchups, while the 2nd might be a bit sketchy. If things work out as expected and the games are one-sided in Slate 1, then Slate 2 might go the way of VGIA and RGO, but Slate 3 is likely to be easy. As long as you keep an eye on the games and are sure to update your rosters depending on player performances, a 3 slate series shouldn’t be too difficult to manage. It also helps these are all Best of 1s, so you won’t need to take too much of your time.
