4.30.20 CSGO ESL Slate

We are in a nice groove right now with consistent slates each day, early DK only and larger all day options on both sites. The early slate for this one is a bit off due to some lesser known games being included so the main slate is again our focus. We like this slate because the pricing has left us without a few obvious plays we see on lots of slates so there should be some fun combinations we can make and hopefully a bunch of teams not filled with really chalky guys…except for the EG boys. Good luck and game on.

Draftkings’ scoring follows the chart shown below, with a focus on K/D and clutch plays. Rosters are set with a Captain position who receives 1.5x his points at 1.5x his salary, but beyond that it is positionless. This is important to understand because CS teams follow a composition of different roles such as IGL (In game leader), entry fragger, support, etc. With Draftkings making no distinction between players, it is left to you to decide which roles are most important within this scoring system and to take advantage of that. For several teams for example, their IGL is not often going to score highly as they may be less skilled at the game but are valuable in ways that Draftkings doesn’t record. With that in mind, we will jump into a quick look at the roles of key players, their key stats, and how their perceived performance should fare in accordance with their salary.

Fanduel has 6 slots for a captain, 4 standard players, and a team. The captain position does not affect a player’s salary like it does on Draftkings. This is particularly advantageous for when you have an inkling that a superstar will put up a large performance but you don’t want to limit your options elsewhere. The team slot will be a lot of fun for those situations where you like a team to win but don’t like the fantasy prospects of any particular players so you can still get some exposure. We figure most users will try to pick the cheapest winning team because a lot of the stats you get points for are hard to predict, but a winning team should definitely fare better.

Our top plays are designed to show the most playable options on each team, factoring in performance and price. The top 2 plays on each team will be in our player pool and the third tier top plays are people we will sprinkle in a bit along with the core group. All of the statistics shown are for the last 3 months to see who has been performing well recently while still keeping a significant sample size.

Our first game appears to be a close one with relatively close betting lines. Spirit has an advantage in every way and we feel confident in them on this slate. Chopper has been a consistent top performer recently and his approachable price here makes him a nice target. The same can be said for iDISBALANCE, especially in a plus matchup like we have here. Mir is a fine player but likely not worth the price tag today.

Gambit Youngsters are on the wrong side of this matchup, but it may not necessarily be a blowout. Sh1ro has been a monster recently, but his price is a tough ask in a negative matchup. Nafany and Ax1LE are fine players as well but likely lack much upside on a small slate and against a superior opponent.

The next two games on the early slate show a much bigger difference in the betting odds which should hopefully mean DFS opportunities will abound. Nemiga is on the wrong side of one of these matchups against forZe. They are simply outmatched here but they do play overpass better and could possibly steal a map to make the series go the distance. We like lollipop21k a lot on this team and his price isn’t too bad. We don’t see ourselves going out of our way to target him but he could be a solid one-off with your other team stacks. If you are feeling spicy, mds has actually been playing decently recently and his price opens up so much flexibility for the rest of your team.

ForZe should handle this series easily in 2 or 3 games and will be highly targeted on this 3 game slate. The top three guys here are usually their better performers and the lower two can likely be entirely ignored. We will probably cycle through different pairings of these guys as it’s hard to decide who to highlight. If we had to choose, we’ll take FL1T

El1an and Hobbit are both great options as well and this could be a spot where you can 3 stack given the plus matchup. Don’t overthink these guys, lock them in.

Our first game of the main slate features the mighty Astralis against a NiP team that seems sorely outmatched here. That being said, NiP actually swept Astralis in their last matchup so we shouldn’t have blind confidence in them. With their high prices and spotty record with NiP, we will likely be underweight on these guys today.

These guys are cheap due to the matchup but a few of them are in a good spot to smash value if they can handle Astralis again here. REZ has been great and also fragged out in that Astralis series and at an approachable price, he makes sense. Plopski is a steal on DK bot less interesting on Fanduel. These guys are all risky as you are basically counting on them to upset a top 3 team again, but a contrarian lineup with them once or twice could do well, given the options elsewhere you’ll have with these low price tags.

G2’s auto ban is Movistar Rider’s top map (Overpass) and every other factor keeps up this theme of it looking like a nice matchup for G2. That being said, we despise their pricing here and think there are better places to drop some bands on this slate. KennyS is the bargain here and you can pay up for nexa and huNter- but you’re going to have to scrap together all the change you can for these guys.

There are not a lot of positives for Movistar here. ALEX is a fine player but too expensive for the position he’s in here. We could go on and on and be wishy washy about them, but the point is to ignore them on a large slate and look somewhere else.

This is the first closer series of the main slate and North looks poised to take it. We are split on if it will be a sweep or go 3, but there should be solid performances in either instance. The big problem here is that they are priced like super stars and they don’t fit that. Aizy has been good but is priced for great. Cajunb is in a better spot in that regard but doesn’t have the same talent.

This is the closest game of the entire day in our opinion and should provide great DFS value. GenG are the favorites, but C9 did pull off a 2-0 sweep in their last meeting. That was a really close series and we feel strongly that we will see 3 maps played here. With approachable pricing, look to target oSee to continue his hot play and you can pair him with either motm or floppy. Even in a loss, oSee should perform well and is a top target for us here.
