Pitching today looks especially weak with the top arms having tough matchups, limited k potential, or both. This should be a high scoring day for batters and some fun games to watch. We see a mix of #1 and #5 starters due to the rainouts yesterday that you hopefully avoided. Pick the right starters today and you should be golden with all the offense available. We again have massive tournaments for the KBO on both sites and a lot of the games will end up airing in the US to satisfy our cravings for baseball. We are going to look at the pitching on this slate as a whole and try to boil them down into top plays. After that, we’ll point out which teams we are looking to stack hitters from. Before all of that, let’s take a quick look at how the KBO operates, relative to the MLB. We have a screenshot of league leaders from last season below to give you a brief idea of how the league compares.
Key points about the KBO:
- The league switched to baseballs designed to not travel as far, limiting home run numbers
- It is still a hitters league, but focused on small ball with every team employing a DH
- Bullpens are a mess, which is why we see Fanduel only caring about starters
- Starting pitchers are already announced, but lineups won’t come out till later so be careful in case of surprises

It is important to decide how you want to approach your pitching before looking for a starter or starters on DK. In the MLB, we often like to go for the top arms and find the value bats, but this slate is likely forcing us to think in reverse. This is a hitting first league and we are going to prioritize spending up for hitters. Luckily there are no weather concerns today so we will try to find some good pitching options and avoid some of the #5 guys going. The Lotte Giants look great so far and we see Dan Straily taking the mound for them here against the 103 Wyverns. He almost got to 100 pitches in his last start and limited baserunners with 4ks. He is pretty cheap today and a slight improvement over that line should be a great value. Warwick Saupold is a great option and players will likely be chasing him after his complete game. This is a tough matchup against a good team but his salary on FD cannot be ignored. His counterpart is Jake Brigham and we are fans of his on DK. He has great upside and we just hope he throws more than 80 pitches here after failing to hit 70 in his last start. Hyun Jong Yang was one of the best pitchers in the league last season but had a terrible debut. He’s really pricet on dK but he should be the chalk option on FD, along with Saupold.
Winning GPPs for baseball is all about stacking the right teams and filling in the blanks with great one-off options. A GPP winning lineup can often have a 4 stack or a 3×3 from 2 teams. With these starters not fully stretched out and bullpens being notoriously weak, we should see some fun scores from a few teams on this slate. We have highlighted our 3 favorite teams to stack below and a few of the top options. We tried to include a value player when we could. Each player will have their DK position noted, since FD is much less specific. We are not looking at salaries specifically with most of these batters, just the guys that have the best odds to perform.
Doosan Bears – They are our favorite stack of the day, but likely are everyone else’s target stack as well. They have a great offense and face one of the worst pitchers on the slate. They are expensive and will likely see high ownership, but for good reasons.
Top options: Jose Fernandez (1B/2B), Jae Hwan Kim (1B/OF), Jae Il Oh (1B), Joo Hwan Choi (1B/2B)
Kia Tigers – They are off to a rough start but are facing a mediocre pitcher that gave up 3 home runs on opening day. This should be a nice spot to jumpstart their offense and this is a crack at a lower ownership team stack due to their early performance.
Top options: Chan Ho Park (3B/SS), Sun Bim Kim (SS), Yong Hwan Baek (C), Preston Tucker (OF)
Lotte Giants – This team is off to a hot start and are facing a former reliever and general question mark as pitcher. We may see him try to eat a few innings to save the bullpen and have a longer leash than he should. This could be a great spot for some offense from the Giants.
Top options: Dixon Machado (2B/SS), Jun Woo Jeon (OF), Dae Ho Lee (1B), Byung Hun Min (3B)
This league is new to most of us so be careful playing this slate. If you are looking to play different guys from these teams, pay attention to lineups being announced closer to lock and targeting guys at the top of the order and with a L/R matchup benefit if possible. We won’t know some of these other potential value plays until rosters come out and we will try to mention any new names in the discord.
Have some fun again here if you end up getting early to get your baseball fix, or just stay up all night because you have issues like some of us here… If you want to look around beyond these stacks, target the cheaper guys and look for L/R matchup benefits and guys at the top of the order. Good luck and game on.
