06.16.20 LOL LPL Slate

There are no words to describe the level of confusion and irritation following that eStar series. But hey, there’s an interesting takeaway at least. Our good friend HumptyDumpty ended up taking 1st place in multiple DK contests, and he did it with a few of ES’s members! (Wink and Wei.) So maybe you don’t need smite to perform! (Spoiler Alert: you do.)

LGD(-769) V DMO(+455)  (5 AM EST)

Avg. Game Length32:5732:16

Matchup Analysis

DMO have played 2 series so far this split, and they’ve been one of the weakest teams so far. Aside from a closer game against ES, they’ve been getting dominated by their opponents. They’ve run some interesting team compositions, and not in a great way, but they also don’t seem to be playing all that well together either. Given this, LGD are the favorites by a decent margin. We could see DMO make a comeback this series, as it’s more likely they’ll beat LGD over ES, but LGD has been looking solid so far.

LGD’s roster looks pretty good in this matchup, but definitely keep an eye on Peanut. He’s the most expensive jungler on DK, but $300 cheaper than Karsa on FD. We’ll talk about Karsa in the next matchup, but Peanut is a great pick here. If you can fit in both ADCs for your captain slots, that’s generally the best way to go, but 2 junglers could be an excellent alternative in this slate. Given LGD’s strength as a team, and the fact they are generally cheaper than TES, you could go for most of their players. Langx hasn’t been the top performer on the team (and we have seen some top lanes score better than the rest of their team so far this split) but you can’t go too wrong with the others. Still, it’s possible that DMO can redeem themselves here, so keep players like xiaopeng and Helper on your radar. They actually had some alright scores in some of the games they lost, which is interesting to see (alright meaning they managed to grab some kills and assists to counteract the deaths, but don’t think their points will compare to a winning JNG or ADC. Helper scored 31 points against V5 while SamD scored 34 in Game 2 alone.) So pointing out decent scores in the case of a loss really serves to show they have a better chance of scoring high when winning.

TES(-1667) V OMG(+722)  (7 AM EST)

Avg. Game Length32:4431:12

Matchup Analysis

OMG has continued to disappoint so far this season, not unlike DMO. They too dropped a series against V5, and subsequently lost to EDG (not too surprising.) So to think they’ll be able to dismantle TES, or even put up a fight, seems a bit ridiculous. Even if TES use this series to mess with new strategies, the players themselves are just so strong it’s difficult to imagine them even dropping a game. With JDG falling apart so far, TES have established themselves as the dominant LPL team, and it’s doubtful OMG will rise to the challenge

Basically everyone is great for TES, but unfortunately you can only have so many players. It doesn’t seem possible to make a lineup with the 4 picks above if you plan on including someone like Kramer as your Captain, but there are ways to work around that. So if you want the double ADC, you’ll have to make sacrifices. If you need to pick a player from either DMO or OMG, these picks should serve you well, but don’t expect a miracle. For the TES picks, the best thing is to pick a few of them and try to fit them in with your ideal lineup.

The Knight/JackeyLove combo is the most attractive, but don’t underestimate 369.  He’s been on fire recently and could prove a much more lucrative pick than Langx, especially if Garvey is subbed in for some reason. Karsa is also a great pick, but he might not be as useful as the other players on the roster. He is a bit cheaper than Peanut on DK but it still isn’t all that worth it. At the end of the day, JackeyLove in particular looks like the must have in this slate, so it’s just a matter of fitting your other picks around him.
